This is an excellent gate for the money. We have it at the bottom of the stairs, although just as many have mentioned it would not be ideal for the top of the stairs. It is soo much better than traditional gates that are an eyesore and are much more permanent. Our 10 mo old daughter pulls herself up on this gate all the time too and it never budges. Great purchase and comes with all the mounting hardware necessary. This is a much better deal than similar gates out there that cost a lot more.
This gate is nice b/c when it is open...there isn't anything that you could possibly trip over...like the ones that have a door to open. I would recommend this product for that reason alone. If you are coming from another gate..it does take some getting use to, but so far it has been a good purchase.
For the money, this product is a great buy. We bought two of them and mounted one on top of the other in our hallway to keep our cats out. So far it is working great! The one big down side is the noise, it is very loud to opperate and I worry it will wake the baby.
I am not sure how sturdy this will prove to be, my daughter is only eight months old; it has proven to keep her these past few weeks since she began to crawl. I really like how modest the gate is. It's easy to open and close and it doesn't need to be put to the side or always be an eyesore.
I bought this so my dog would stay in the kitchen at night but since he is a small dog(jack russell) he was able to crawl under it. He chewed it a bit but didn't destroy it,I wish it wasn't maid out of fabric,maybe something that would resist chewing? It does however work with children. I have my 1 year old nephew over sometimes and it keeps him out of the kitchen when I'm cooking. The gate was real easy to set up.So I recommend this product if you want to use it for your children,but not for your pets. The only thing that I found to work for keeping pets out of an area you don't want is a scatmat.
This product has worked good for us. It is great for areas that a swing gate will not work. It is helpful to have two hands to operate the latch but can be done with only one, but not easily. There is some noise involved with open and close, but overall this has been a good product.
After baby proofing our house we realized that the gate at the foot of our stairs didn't have enough space to open all the way around. It was a hazard when it was in the open position, so we started looking for another style gate. I really like this roller gate, it takes up minimal space when it's in the open position, and is less of an eyesore than a lot of gates. It is much easier to latch and unlatch than I anticipated, I can open and close it while holding the baby. As an added bonus, our two small dogs can't get past this gate. We used a wooden gate before and they could squeeze between the wall and the first bar. So far they have not found a way past the roller gate.
I loved the idea of a retractable gate! I do childcare in my home, but I don't need a gate when the daycare children aren't here. I thought this would be the perfect solution. The only problem was that they don't state it has to be mounted from wall to wall contact. I needed it for the bottom of my stairway and I have wrought iron railing on one side, so there was no way to attach the gate. Great idea but it needs more mounting options!!
This product was great but it stopped working right after the 90 day limited warranty expired (on day 100). The gate no longer locks in place. It was not worth the money I paid for 100 days of use (actually less than 100 days because we didn't get it installed right away - one of the screws broke off during the installation and we had to find replacement screws because no extras of that size were included).
I had to return the product because it has to be attached to wooden door jams. Besides not knowing that, it is very loud. I read the reviews regarding the noise and thought to myself that it could not be that bad...BUT IT IS BAD. It should not be recommended for baby/toddler use. Good idea...Wish it would have worked.
