This was a second swing for us. The first swing was awful and this one was ten times better than the first one. We didn't purchase this one until he was around 3 months old. In the beginning he was around 15lbs and the swing did perfect. Now he is 20lbs (5.5 months) and the swing seems to go slow even on the highest speed and it says that the weight limit is 25lbs. I would recommed this swing for smaller babies. I love the look and feel of it. My son loves the noises, especially the rainforest sounding one. It would knock he out everytime. Even though my son loved the stationary mobile, I do wish that it would have rotated. I loved the two different swinging motions, unlike other brands. I also loved the fact that you could plug it up. Our first swing was battery operated and we went through tons of battery over three(+/-) months. It definitely saves money on batteries.
We just had twins and these swins were all that our local store had, that wasn't one of those "travel swings". They were very easy to set up, and the plug in feature is what sold us on them. I would have liked to get something with lights and that had reclining options. Our twins are very small and I'm worried that they might be sitting up too much. They do seem to like the swings though, which has helped me out with them a lot in the two days that we have had the swings. The swing makes some noise when it rocks... and yes you have to push it to start it to swinging (even with babies under 6lbs) , but I think it's that way with any swing anymore. I can not rate the Durability yet because I've only had the swings for two days, but the swings look and feel very sturdy and safe even for tiny babies, and with a 5yr and 7yr running around them and bumping into them.
I received this swing as a gift. I loved it at first as did my daughter but after 4 months of use we started having problems with the motor. It would take a while for the motor to start swinging then after a few weeks it stopped working completely. After contacting Fisher Price we were sent a whole new motor. The company said they had several reports of this same problem. So far no complaints with the new motor!!
Overall it's pretty good. Multi-position seat is nice. My son loves the mobile and music. However, the problems with the construction are a bit annoying. First, the fact that it's battery only instead of having the option to plug it into an outlet means you need some rechargeable batteries. You need them because the machine sucks down batteries like nobodies business. For D Cells last maybe 12 hours. After that, you might get one feature to work, but the others won't. It's fairly stable, but the swing arm doesn't complete a symmetrical motion. It swings more to one side than the other. I've tried taking the whole thing apart and moving it to a different area in case it was my house that was slanted, but it's the swing arm. In general, I wouldn't buy this knowing these problems. Luckily it was a gift so I didn't waste my own money.
I bought this swing at my walmart, bc it was the only one they carried in store that went side to side and front to back. I got home and noticed a few things i really didnt like about it. the seat didnt adjust and my daughter looked like she was breaking her neck trying to look at the mobile. The toys on the mobile are very hard and heavy and would clank together when the swing was on. The seat didnt have a tray for when she started getting snacks. The ONLY good thing about it was it plugged into the wall to save on batteries. I returned it and ordered one online (the butterfly one from fisher price) its so much better! And it only took 4 days to get to my store. (site to store free shipping)
The reason I bought this swing is because of the different swinging directions as well as the fact it can run on electricity and not just batteries. Unfortunately, as other posters have commented, the motor doesn't make the baby swing! I have to keep pushing the seat to keep the baby moving. Also, the motor makes a horrible grinding noise which means that the baby can't really listed to the built-in tunes. I am really disappointed that this expensive swing is such a poor performer.
I had my swing about 24hours, after I put it together it seemed VERY LOW to the ground and my sons feet were about 4in from hanging out of the swing. Then I turn the swing on and the motor is SOOOO LOUD. When I had my son in the swing (he weighs 13lbs) the swing wouldn't swing so I was running back and forth pushing it so it would swing. Well needless to say I'm not going to pay $119 for a bad product...so I returned it!
I recieved this item as a shower gift, we absolutely loved it for the first 3 months, however we had to change the batteries 3 times in 3 months, should have a plug for it. Now that my daughter is 11lbs 4 oz, it barely even rocks, I at first thought that it needed batteries, so I changed them (AGAIN) still wouldnt rock, the ironic thing is that when she is not in it, it rocks perfectly! Apparently it is not built for an 11lb 3 month old baby. Very unhappy with this product, especially considering how much it cost.
I would recommend this swing for babies 1- 4 months ONLY. Its actually a pretty bad swing for its price. There are other swings out that can do more for example, recline to different positions and go at a faster speed. My son is 7 months and have now outgrown it! This swing is just OVERPRICED ! There are swings that are less than half the price and work better. DONT BUY!
We just bought this swing today and after putting it together (about 20 min.) we plugged it in and the swing did not work! The music played but the swing did not swing! It did not come with a tray which in the description it says there is one. After calling Fisher Price, they told me that they would reimburse me, up to $119.99 and I'd have to pay for the shipping cost to send them the seat and the padding and they'd send me a refund once they received it. I don't think so!! They sent me a defective product and then expect me to pay for them to get it right?! No way! Luckily our baby isn't due for a few months but we will definitely not buy a Fisher Price swing!!!
