This is the second ones that I’ve bought. The first ones I bought I had for over 15 years until they grew legs if you know what I mean. When I went to replace them I liked them so well that I searched for another pair just like the first one. I found them but considering the time of year I bought them Walmart had the best price (no surprise there) but they also got them to me the quickest. They are durable, handy because of the extension handles which I love the most about this product No ladder needed
This lopper is sturdy and the blades hold up well so far. I have pushed it just a little bit lopping branches slightly larger than what I should with this tool, but it's strong enough that it's been pretty forgiving. For around $20, I couldn't be happier with it. It's not some flimsy, rinky-dink tool. It's good quality.
I have a these clippers at my house and like them so much I got a set for my brother. Well he gave me his credit card and ordered the HP printer ink cartridge he needed and added the clippers. He is happy.
These extendable handle loppers are great! Strong enough to cut through limbs easily. My yard is beginning to look trimmer and neater with the help of this handy dandy tool. I highly recommend them. They really are a necessary item to keep your trees and overgrowth under control. Easy to use even for this old woman.
This is one of the better purchases I have made. This lopper did not want to let both handles extend. Some persuasion with a board and a hammer made the handle work like it should. The plastic inserts showing the direction to turn the handles to extend came loose. I used some silicone cement to cure that. My first day cutting a hundred honeysuckle bushes was it's first day on the job. The extendable handles were very handy and made cutting the thicker branches of 1 to almost 2 inches very easy. To my surprise I actually needed to sharpen the cutting blade after the first day. However looking at the brush laying on the ground made one sharpening absolutely worth it. It has also cut dead and dry black locust with ease, made black cherry fall with ease, and willow, sumac, and box alder drop into the brush piles. The extendability of the handles allowed higher branches to be cut from the ground. The tougher branches took one to three cuts to get through. I found cutting partially through each time, like chewing, made short work of those branches and saplings. I found the handles would come loose as I twisted and turned the cutter. A simple twist of the wrist locked them back into place. Using this tool takes some getting used to but it is doable. I have seen the handles flex as I cut an especially tough branch. This tells me I may be using too much force, but so far the handles remain intact. In my opinion this is a good tool and I hope I get to use this for years on my 13 acre property. I recommend this tool to any homeowner with a woodlot or a wooded yard or field to care for.
The loppers are great but.......one of the handle covers was loose from the start and it fell somewhere in my yard and I haven't been able to find it to this day.
I read a lot of poor reviews stating that when you extended the loppers that they would not stay extended. I extended the loppers and did what these reviewers failed to do. I locked the handles by twisting them clockwise. No product will not move unless you somehow lock it in place.
This lopper works very well as far as easily cutting through large tree/shrub limbs. However, the extendable handle makes it frustrating to use. To extend the handles, you turn them to open and slide t extend or turn it the other way to lock it in place. The issue is that the handles would turn as I was cutting limbs and so I'd be trying to cut a limb and the handles would turn a bit taking them out of the locked position and so I had to fight against that while also trying to cut through the limb. I know there's another Fiskars model that locks the handles in place with a lever and I'm guessing that's much easier to use and avoids the unintended unlocking that I experienced with this model.
Handle bent on the 20th or so bush, none much larger in diameter than my thumb. Blade was sharp and cut with ease. One of the grips came loose as did both of the orange plastic bushings that seperate the two halves of the handles. Think for the money it would be great for very light duty and occasional usage.
One handle can't be extended. I saw other buyers posted the same issue. Not sure if I can exchange it for a good one.
