So, I bought this based on the notes. I know violet, orris, sandalwood, and amber smell amazing on me. So I wasn't surprised when I liked this. I was surprised that the opening was so sharp, but that lasts about 2-3 minutes before the violet takes over. I can smell the amyris. It smells like a mix of smoke and wood notes. Combined with the violet and orris, it's beautiful. And the drydown is pure heaven on me However, if violet and orris turn into powder, or grandma smell, you might want to skip this one.
When I first received this, I was not a big fan- it was a blind choice, just me wanting to try something new. I have never experienced the real MFK Amarylis, so again, blind. After a few wears, however, I have become OBSESSED with this fragrance. It's luxurious, decadent, classy, and lasts all day. When I wear it, it turns me into the weirdo who sniffs herself just to experience it again. It's got rich, ambery floral notes, with a hint of earthy sandalwood, and gives me wealthy housewife vibes. I LOVE this fragrance, and will continue to repurchase.
As expected, Dossier delivers with this dupe! Spritzed both a sample of the original and the Dossier dupe (one on each arm) and the scent was practically 1:1. Perhaps there's a lingering complexity to the original during the dry down, but at such a discounted price, Dossier's version is the clear winner.
I never smelled the original, but I like this perfume. I like to use it as one of my everyday work fragrances. It doesn't linger or project as much as my other fragrances but I'm personally okay with that.
I got this perfume for free for reaching the gold status on Dossier and although it wasn't my favorite at first (it really punches you in the face when you first smell it), I decided to spray it on my wrist and let it dry down, while I smelled the other perfumes from my order. Once it dries down, it has a very sweet and delicate smell. Lol. It's still not my favorite, but it's also not the type I'd give away. I am actually wearing it right now, and I really love the smell now that it's dried down. It also lasts a very long time, which I love! I must also add that it smells amazing when paired with Citrus Tea (will add the woodsy note this one lacks)
I tried the MFK inspired by fragrance in store and it was a beautiful bright floral. This one is close but missing something that I could not put my finger on. It’s a pretty fragrance and if you are a fan of florals I would recommend giving it a try.
Smells like jo mallon's pear and freesia but classier
I wish that this scent had more sandalwood and musk to it; it was overwhelmingly floral for my taste. If you love strong floral scents, you may like this, it just wasn’t what I was expecting based off the notes. The performance is great, however. I sprayed some on my wrist to try it out, and I could still smell it over 8 hours later.
It is hard to review a fragrance that is not your taste. I don't want to say it is bad because someone else might love it and it could still be high quality even though I don't enjoy the scent. It is very old school very powdery in my opinion. Immediately headache inducing and nauseating to me. Seems very powerful I assume it would last a very long time and project very well. Unfortunately just not my taste.
Another fragrance that purchased based on Sandalwood. From me I found this fragrance to be too strong for my preference. I was going to send it back and order another fragrance. But when I asked my daughter what she thought of the fragrance she really liked it. So I gave it to her instead.
