This insect killer was bought to help us control the mosquitoes in our yard. So far it is doing a great job! We placed it approximately 25 feet from our back porch, under a shade tree where there were tons of them. (This is not a tree that we sit under!) You definitely need to put it somewhere that will draw them away from where you want to be. We are very pleased with our purchase. It's easy to use and easy to clean. I just stepped out on the porch and not a single mosquito landed on me!
I was looking into getting a mosquito magnet (which runs about $250+). I read the reviews and people weren't too happy with them, so I figured I'd try this one out. So glad I did! We have a lot of stagnant water, and the mosquito population is horrible! This item reduces it by at least 30%. It's been a great asset this year!
Every time I opened the patio door, hundreds of bugs flew in within seconds. After purchasing this, no bugs. At all. Had a huge party, door opened all night, and no bugs in the house. Every guest at the party wants one. Hung it in the back of the yard on a shepherds hook to attract the bugs away from the house. Love it! Get it!
Have had it in the yard for three days now and have noticed considerably less insect traffic at the back door when letting the dogs out and when sitting on the Patio. Purchased the 1 acre insect killer for my large backyard and have seen a big difference in the flying insect traffic. That and the kids just love watching it zap the little buggers! Would highly recommend this product, am very pleased with its operation.
I was looking for an easy alternative to killing the nagging Louisiana State Bird aka the Mosquito. This is it. I've only been using for a week but it's been functioning superbly. I bought this in hopes of keeping my 14 month old from getting bitten from the ones sneaking into the house from an open door and it definitely dose the trick, no more nighttime bites.
First time to try this to kill mosquito population on my deck in a very wooded area. It works well, I can now enjoy being on the deck whenever I want. The photo cell with 3 or 5 hour timer is wonderful. If I want it on more, I just change position of switch to on all the time.
I like to sit out on my patio at night and watch the zapper work. My son told me that it doesn't take much to entertain me but I'm sitting bug free across the yard from where the zapper is located. I've only had it a week and so far, no problems.
This does exactly what's expected. The photo optical sensor is great, it comes on at dusk and goes off once the sun is shining bright in the morning. Seems to attract the mosquitoes fairly well. Downside is, it attracts other harmless flying insects as well. That's really the only trade off. I noticed I wasn't getting swarmed by mosquitoes after the first day of use. They weren't all gone but I definitely noticed a decrease. It does need to be cleaned via an air compressor or something similar (hair dryer) often as there are bug corpses caught in the grid, how often depends on the population of bugs in your area.
Seems like a good product. Haven't had it that long yet but it does exactly what I bought it for ( Zapping the you know what out of the bugs)! No problems with shipping, all parts intact, and nothing broken. Unfortunately, haven't had it long enough to know how long the bulb will last, but so far, so good....For the price, I would recommend it!
The bug light should turn on at dusk because it has a photo cell to activate the light. However our bug lamp does not turn on automatically at dark, Instead I have to turn it on and off manually. The switch to program the lamp is not working properly. I have no choice but to return it to the store. I installed it on a Wednesday, after the third night on Friday we decided to return it.
