I brought the food saver because I buy in bulk and it made it easyer to brake down the food and store it. It is easy to use my 11 year old loves to help out. I will suggest to anyone who buy in bulk that this is a good buy. I make my own fozen meal for the kids all they have to do is pull it out of the freezer cut the end and put it in the mic.
I use my FoodSaver for everything. I reseal prepackaged food in the existing bag all the time (frozen vegetables, cereal, chips) which saves money and time. I use the small bags for left overs to make individual size froze dinners for my son to eat when I don't feel like cooking. They are alot cheaper and healthier than the store bought ones. I freeze sauces, soups and liquids in them for ease. I buy meat in bulk and make "meal size" bags for the freezer. I freeze vegetables from the garden. I freeze the juice from lemons off my tree, and thaw later when the lemons are out of season, for lemonade or coctails. Overall a great buy. I'm always finding new uses for it.
We have a garden and this comes in really handy when freezing the vegetables. Smaller than previous one. Also good when buying large quantities of meat.
I originally had the Black and Decker vaccum sealer. When it wore out, I purchased this one. It is amazingly easier to use and quicker functioning. I vaccum seal a lot of vegetables and fruit for eating in the winter. This sealer takes less than half the time to use and is aslo much easier functioning. You press the button and go. If this one wears out, I will definately purchase another one like it withoug hesitation.
This model is #V2220B (b=black). My husband & I wanted this because we were tired of throwing out freezer burned food. We selected this from our local WM. It is more streamline for cabinet storage when not in use as counterspace is a premium at our house. I've never owned one with a built-in cutter,etc., so I cannot offer an opinion on that option. I prefer rolls over bags so I can make the bag as needed. I doubt we'll buy any bags. This one fits nicely on a half shelf in our kitchen & we stash the rolls in a handy drawer. It works great. My only regret is that we might have liked the white model better because of vision problems. Other than that it is perfect for our needs. We're now wanting the marinator but our WM is out so we might order that. We did buy from another source the wide-mouth jar sealer attachment because we heard such great things about that. We just haven't had the opportunity to try it yet.
I have not had my food saver that long, but I love it. We was buying bag salad mix I was tossing it out before the end of the week. Not any more, that was the first thing that I used it for. I put green beans in the freeze what a great job it did. Very easy to use, my grandkids helped with the beans. I just wish the bags was a little cheaper, but I will keep lookin around for them Great product I will buy another one when this one goes out.
I have used this product for a year and it was my first FoodSaver purchase. I love the small footprint when it is stored on end like a book as it allows me to keep it on the counter without sacrificing real estate on the counter top. I highly recommend this model. I love it.
The food saver is a great product. I was, however, very disappointed that the vacuum hose was not included with the food saver and it is VERY HARD to find just the hose. I recommend this product, but with reservations about necessary non-included accessories.
I bought this to replace an older model that wouldn't seal any more. I liked the size and color but missed the storage and cutting units. Used it once to see if I could get use to not having these features. It sealed very well! I'm still on the fence about returning it but I think I would be happier with having storage and the cutting unit.
My only complaint with this product is the amount of extra bag required each time you seal. You use an extra 2-3 inches every time you make a bag from a roll. That adds up over time. This is my first foodsaver, so my complaint may be true of all models. Overall, I love the foodsaver...and use it on all kinds of stuff around the house; particularly electronics that are going to be stored in my dusty basement workshop.
