We purchased a GE gas range in stainless steel and wanted to update the microwave at the same time. We chose this one not only because it matches so well and is from the Profile Series like the range, but also be cause of the size with the handle not on the front of the microwave. It looks so much bigger than one that has the handle on the front, and at first glance looks like a small oven. It has a Chef Connect feature that allows you to "connect your microwave to a GE range to sync your vent fan, cooktop surface lights and clock via Bluetooth technology" however our range does not have the Chef Connect feature so we cannot comment on this feature as to weather it works or not. The interior is very dark and yes, you cannot "watch" your food cook...this is not a big deal to us, but for some it may be. Numbers 1-5 correspond to a cook time in minutes...this is very cool for all you need to do is press 1 for 1 minute, 2 for 2 minutes etc., and the microwave instantly starts up for that amount of cook time. The pad has a "Add 30 Sec" button that will allow you to add 30 seconds in the middle of cooking and the display will add the 30 seconds to the time remaining and also has a "turntable on/off" button for larger dishes...awesome features! Though it's a bit pricey...the additional features are worth it.
Love my microwave. It is large, easy to clean and very user friendly. Cooking controls are clear and easy to navigate. Perfect compliment to my kitchen!
It's incredible. Didn't realize my old one was so Inefficient. Love the look of the microwave. And it fit perfectly. It has all the features that I need. Love love love 💕
this is our second microwave, the first one was determined to have a major flaw according to the technician and refunded us for a new one. We like the look and function of the microwave so we purchased the same one. The newer one is constructed slightly different and the installation was not the same as our previous microwave. Overall happy with the microwave as long as this one last more than the last one.
Nice microwave, but could use a particular convenience heating feature: quick beverage reheat button. Also, the surface light should have 2 bulbs to give proper lighting coverage to the surface of the cooktop below. It's shadowy for some of the burners on the accompanying GE Profile range. Otherwise, very nice so far.
This is a good looking microwave, with plenty of space inside. Controls are a little hard to push. We would be completely satisfied except for the internal handle. Before buying, we checked dimensions online. The needed width is 30 inches, which would fit exactly into the space. HOWEVER, nowhere is it indicated that there must be extra space on the right in order to fit your fingers behind the door to pull it open. We're looking for a handle to stick on the door so we can open it more easily. Right now we have to put our hands on the top and bottom of the door and pull it open. We usually leave it open when not using it to make it easier.
Great looking appliance, and nice to have it sync the light and vent with our GE range via Bluetooth. Otherwise it's like most other microwaves, with one unfortunate exception. The door is WAAYYY too wide. You see, the GE product team wanted to make this one pretty and sleek to match the GE Profile range with electronic controls across the entire front, which they accomplished. But, to do that, they made the door another 7 inches wider, with a pocket handle behind the door frame on the right. That means that -- in order to access the opening to put food in or take it out -- a person standing a normal distance in front of the microwave oven MUST either first take a step backward OR lean over WAY to the right so the door can fully open without hitting the user in the face!!! A true design "fail." I wish we had a chance to test-drive this one before we had purchased it. If we had, we would have bought a model with a door designed so it doesn't aim for one's face...
This was given to me by my home warranty. It's not as powerful as the Kenmore microwave it replaced. In my opinion it has a few design flaws. I though the GE Profile series was a more high end brand. If that is so, then why continue to use incandescent light bulbs for the cooktop light. Even lower end models are using LED light. Even on the highest setting, the light is very dim. My family relied alot on the cooktop light on our Kenmore microwave. It also used incandescent lights but the location of the lights was much more effective and brighter. The Kenmore microwave had 2 lights that were located on both sides of the microwave near the edge and provided a wider coverage of light. The light on the GE microwave is located in the center and does not provide enough coverage nor is it bright. Additionally, due to the location of the light being in the center of the microwave, the plate inside the microwave gets extremely hot when the light is left on the highest setting for an extended period of time. My second issue is the door of the microwave is ridiculously long. Be sure you have enough clearance on both sides of the microwave before installing so that you can properly open the door. Lastly it doesn't heat food up as quickly as I would like it to. It takes about 2-3 tries to get my food to the preferred temperature. Overall it does look nice, but that's about it. If I had the opportunity to do it all over again, I would not have chosen this microwave.
We purchased a GE Profile microwave in March of 2021, and it has begun to off gas a horrible smell when we use it. Is this what consumers can expect from GE Products?
This microwave seems different than the online picture. The sides angle at the bottom, which causes a view of the filters and light underneath. It is visually unappealing! The buttons are hard to push, you must be directly on top of the center (sounds easier than it is) it is not a touch screen! Also, if the microwave gets “too hot” on the inside - a fan will automatically come on and run until it gets good and ready to turn off!!! This is completely annoying! However, in the manual, it is described as NORMAL! So, you should be aware! The inside is a bit challenging to wipe down as the bottom is NOT flat. It had lots of indentations, so if you have a spill - get ready for some fun that won't stop trying to get it all wiped up! Also, be careful as you use the handle, as the plastic around the handle seems sharp enough to cut you if you slide your hand down to find the handle. I can't say enough about how I will NEVER but a microwave from the store on their website again! NEVER! I will from this moment forward open, close the door, push the buttons, stand in front to see if it looks weird (online picture is so wrong!)
