After 7 years of use, the teflon on my older model George Foreman Grill began to come off. So, I replaced it with the GR144 model. I've only used the new grill twice, but the results have been great. Over the years I've found that cleaning the grill is very easy if you use this tip I received from my sister; (1) Remove the cooked items from the grill and unplug it, (2) Saturate a paper towel in water and place it across the area of the grill where the items were cooked and make sure a drip tray is in place, (3) close the lid of the grill, (4) go enjoy your dinner, (5) after dinner is finished the cooking residue has been steamed and is soft enough to easily wipe off with a couple paper towels.
We could not find the item locally, so we turned to the internet. As usual, we tried Walmart first and found the item the first first place we looked, "Walmart". Everything including the free shipping to the local store was perfect. Thank Yoou.
Absolute must have !! Cooks to perfection, easy clean up and isn't an eye sore sitting on your counter top. We use our foreman almost every night, our last one lasted almost three years when we finally just had to put it out of it's misery and get another one. If you have never tried one or owned one, I would highly recommend it.
The steak that I grilled for the very first time was simply delightful. The chart giving advice concerning the length of time to cook a 3/4 inch steak is correctly charted. I should never have to be concerned with over cooking a steak from this time forward.
Works well and does everything promised. I have a smaller 64 sq inch grill and decided to upgrade to a much bigger one. Huge cooking surface, it's really nice to be able to fit 5-6 patties on the grill all at once. It does get quite hot and it's a bit difficult to gauge the temperature. I found the 2 sides are cooler as is the area next to the drip tray on the bottom. It's a bit cumbersome to wash but that's a small inconvenience. I expected that especially with non-immersible parts. The grill makes clicking noise though and I can't figure out what that's about. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product. I cook ahead of time because of busy work schedule and it's really nice to be able to trim the cooking time by 1/2 or 2/3.
Only 2 down sides to this grill no temperature control that i'm use to and the plates are not removeable. Love the size and once i get use to how fast it cooks it'll be a really good purchase.
Great grill. Heats quickly, cooks well and does it's job and then some (really enjoy using it as a sandwich press too). My only complaint is that it would be easier to clean well if the plates were removable (probably a feature on higher priced model). Family uses it multiple times a week - no complaints.
Does the job, prefer the other version with the on/off switch. This one doesn't have one, just the plug in.
I personally like this grill but it has many shortcomings that would keep me from recommending it to a friend. It is great for steaks and brine soaked chicken. Thin cuts....No. There is no temperature control. Just a light to tell you power is on and the unit is heating up. The light goes out when it is at full heat. The light also goes out if the circuit breaker trips. LoL. The grill plates are not removable for cleaning. Any cleaner you use (soap, ect) will drip down the grill and hopefully not into the body of the unit. The lid is hinged in a way that will allow for thick cuts, but.... it floats so if the meats are not perfectly level, the lid will tilt. Also, without the ability to control the temp, thick cuts will burn on the outside leaving the inside rare at best. The drip tray that catches the fat, it's a plastic dish that does not mount to the grill. You just lay it on the counter under the front of the grill. As for being family sized. Four burgers or three rib eyes. On one hand, I think there are plenty of reason not to buy this grill. On the other hand, I'll keep mine for steaks and brine soaked (you have to use a brine or this grill will dry out your chicken in a heart beat) chicken.
I assumed it was like my old one. My fault as I did not read it well enough. Very disappointed. There was no temperature gauge on it so food cooked fast and basically was burnt! The cord is very short so you have to be very close to an outlet. The gray part of the lid that should let you open it gets very hot so you can barely touch it without a pot holder. With all that being said I have returned it!
