If you love soccer you will enjoy this movie. It features an illegal immigrant (Santiago) who crossed the US Mexican Border with his family when he was a young boy. I will not go into the plot as you should just either rent or buy this movie and enjoy for yourself. Kuno Becker stars in the lead role as Santiago in this trilogy (yes, a few more stories to enjoy after this one) and he does a great job. In this movie Santiago is an unpretentious kid who does well enough to make it onto European pitches. The fact that Kuno Becker is not a known actor lends to the "aw shucks" aspect of his character and the movies production/direction team chose Kuno in part because he was unknown. Great action shots, cameos from international star players and a good plot make this one to watch for anyone who likes the underdog or soccer!
An incredible feel good movie where hard work, determination, and the luck of a genuine mentor help develop the talent and career of an underprivileged Mexican soccer player from the bad lands of LA to the heights of the UK soccer world. I cannot wait to see the sequel...
