Tough!

I have pampered my nomad 7 thinking it would be fragile. Getting ready for a camping trip this weekend It fell off the tailgate. I backed over it with the front and rear tire of my fullsize Chevy truck. Had to bend the usb port back straight but it works like a charm I am impressed with the Quality!!!!!!!!!!

What you need to power a lantern!!

We have plenty of sun in AZ, so why not utilize this source to power up a lantern that can be used inside or outdoors without relying on electrical circuits. A little step in making the planet greener. What better equipment would you have in an outdoors survival situation. Power up a light, even power up your cell phone.

My Nomad 7 was delievered with a small scratch on the panel surface that marred the appearence. GoalZero sent me another one that day with a return goods tag to insure my satisfaction with the product. I am sure the panel's performance would not have been effected just my overall satisfaction. GoalZero made sure I would be pleased with my Nomad 7.

Nice features

This is my second Nomad 7 purchase, and the feature set has improved over the one I've had for 5 years, which still works well. The improvements include the multiple connections, which now allows you to chain units. The mesh pouch allows you to charge a phone or Guide 10 securely when you hang it on your pack and hike. I have used the original one to charge a GPS transceiver and dog tracking collars, a UV water purifier, headlamps. Week-long trips are no problem. I keep it in my earthquake kit.

Why didn't I think of that?

We got this solar recharger for a four-day sailing trip so that we could recharge our Flip video camera. It worked great. Soon everyone was wanting to use it to recharge their personal devices. We now take it on all our camping trips. It's flat and portable. Seems durable so far. Recharges in a reasonable amount of time and uses nothing but the sun's rays. Of course, if there's no sun it doesn't work. But when there is sun, it's easy to prop in different places and it's got a little clip so you can attach it to things. We highly recommend it. Simple, lightweight, and easy to use.

I have had the opportunity to use this cool, little solar charger on several occasions when traveling in El Salvador. I am able to charge my phone, charge / power my GZ Rock Out and also charge my Guide 10 quad AA battery set. Compact size, easy of storage and durable construction, all contribute to the value of this unit.

Good solar panel

This seems to be a good solar panel. I purchased it mainly with the idea of being able to recharge mine and my wife's iPhone 5's when out camping. Initially, I couldn't get it to work, so I called Goal Zero customer service. First person I got on the phone told me it should work fine and gave me little other instruction. Tried it and it still didn't work. Called back and got a different customer service person. This lady walked me through different things that need to be done, then it worked. If you have an iPhone 5 understand that you need to put the panel out in the direct sun, let it warm up a bit first. Then put the phone into airplane mode and/or shut it down completely. Doing all that, it will recognize the power source and recharge. Or you can just use the Guide 10 Plus and recharge that.

Not a good first time experience shopping online through Walmart! Item ordered was missing a key system component. Goal Zero folks were awesome however, replacing the missing item at no charge.

Not as advertised

The Nomad 7 did not work well with the iPhone 4. The Goal0 website implies plug-and-play compatibility with Apple products, and fails to clearly indicate any problems with charging Apple devices. Only in the customer comments and FAQs did I uncover the known problems between Apple products and the Nomad 7. The proposed solutions were unacceptable: I was not interested in constantly monitoring the charging process, disconnecting & reconnecting the iPhone with every passing cloud, nor did I care to spend an additional $60 to purchase the Guide 10 power pack. I therefore returned the product, expecting a full refund. Not only did Goal0 fail to provide a refund, they quit responding to any of my messages regarding the return. I was ultimately forced to dispute the charge through my credit card. I would not recommend this product or this company to anyone.

Doesn't Work as Expected

Maybe I got one of the older ones because it does not have the green stripe but it does not put out 7 watts to the USB. I found a 10 watt panel from another manufacturer for $20.00 less that puts this product to shame. Will probably not buy another Goal Zero product ever again.
