This is sub par compared to other quarters. It has some feathers broken legs ect but thats okay with me. It much creaper than good grade dog food. I raise and train Dogo Argentinos and this help with the raw diet my dogs are on. Besides if I want to have chicken for a meal I just trim off the slop and use them for my meal also. I wouldnt feed my dogs anything that I cant eat.
Love, love, love these dark meat chicken quarters! No fuss. No muss. No overbloated advertisement mark-up either. These are obviously the unused back end of a chicken used primarily for chicken breast sales (and maybe wings). And rather than be thrown out, these get put in a bag and sold to whoever wants them at an EXTREMELY affordable cost! I prefer dark meat anyway and was literally looking for chicken with 'more bone' because I've started experimenting with making my own chicken stock. I was a little leery to try this bag but boy am I glad I did! With this bag there is almost a week's worth of delicious dark meat for both me and my GSD, along with very effective, gelatinous UNSALTED chicken bone broth for her arthritis! I just pluck off any skin or fat before eating or making stock. The stock that comes out of these chicken quarters after eating all of their meat is SO DELICIOUS that even without any seasonings added I can't help but mooch some whenever I warm it up for her!
Normally, this is a good product for the price and I've ordered it many times. This time, however, I got a bag that had 10 "drumsticks". Most looked like they'd been savaged by a machine and two of them were the leg bone ONLY, (no meat). The package says an extra leg or thigh may be added to make up weight, and that's fine. But dumping 8 torn-up legs and 2 leg bones to "make weight" is unacceptable. I contacted WM customer service, they resolved the issue promptly and courteously. As I said, this is usually a good product, and I will order it again soon.
I read a bunch of reviews on multiple sites before buying and was really nervous. Upon opening the bag I was pleasantly surprised! I saw chicken leg quarters and a few loose legs. None of the gunky stuff other people were describing. No feathers, just a few light bruises (that I've seen on all types but organics), no excess fat or discolorations. If you're easily grossed out by raw chicken, pass on this because it will take some trimming. If you're ok with that, get some sturdy and sharp shears that can cut through bone and save your family some money! Also, the taste is chicken. Delicious, juicy chicken. I'm disabled and the prep really is too much for me, but I'm not disappointed with my purchase.
Buyer beware. I thought I was getting 10 pounds of edible chicken. Upon opening the bag realized that a lot of the 10 pounds was fully intact breast bones as well as some hearts, lungs, and other entrails still attached. We had to cut away the breastbone and remove the entrails and by then what we were left with was certainly not 10 pounds to cook and eat.
buy the 10lb bag a lot for my family events because we serve a lot of people and this is the cheapest way to do so. while there is a lot of excess skin and fat, it still makes a decent dinner. have noticed that the quality is starting to go down hill lately, even found a piece that still had a few feathers still intact with my last purchase.
I purchased 10 lb bag of gold leaf fresh leg quarters, upon opening discovered a miserable mess of poultry. this is without a doubt the worst I have ever witnessed in my life, and I was in the retail Supermarket business for 40 years! product had numerous broken bones, entrails and guts still attached, not scalded or cleaned properly, full of feathers. the parts were not separated correctly. Walmart you should be embarrassed to carry anything this vendor offers. I hope someone in Bentonville Arkansas gets a copy of this..
Contained parts of the chicken other than the led quarters, including the neck bone, spine, feathers and a wing, and parts were not even cut apart from each other. I shouldn’t have to pay for a neck bone when I’m expecting leg quarters! I believe I’ve left a positive review for this brand in the past. What the heck happened?
CHICKEN HAS A BAD ODOR AND PAST EXPIRATION DATE!!!
the chicken has a use by date of Aug 1st! The pickers at this store never check the dates of meats and other items. If they performed quality checks before sending the products out to the customers and held people responsible for their actions this wouldn't happen as often.
