I bought this to add to my work office. I set it up on a large metal cabinet and it's just great. You can't go wrong with this purchase. I got the black free shipping to store. It was double boxed with plastic wrap all around. It was perfection right out of the box and started getting cold immediately. The freezer portion is really small but I expected that. My Mother was recently in the nursing home and we borrowed one of these. It was invaluable for her. This is a unit you can use in many locations. I plan to bring this one home eventually. Great value and the black one looks just great in the office. It's really quiet also.
I'm trying to simplify my life now that my children have grown and live 200+ miles away; I recently moved into a very small house that I am remodeling with an eye toward aging in place and am trying to choose good quality, long-life/low maintenance appliances that I can access easily, are easy to keep clean and looking good. In the kitchen I am going with black appliances and counter tops. I bought this and the GE 4.3 cu ft fridge at the Wal-Mart on my daily to-from work route (saves gas to shop on route:) to place on a countertop. I was reluctant to buy a Haier because I don't know the name, but am pleased with this unit so far (bought it 1st week of May '08) because it is doing exactly what I hoped it would based on other reveiws of Haier products here and other sites. Right now I am using the mini as a small freezer; I put it on the counter and cranked it up to full blast. My things are staying frozen in there, including ice. Other reviews led me to believe I could do that, and so far it is working great. Next month I am going to order the Danby 3 cu ft chest freezer to take over full freezer duties, until then I think this unit will continue to keep things frozen. After I buy the chest freezer I will use the Haier to supplement the 4.3 GE I am using as the main fridge. (See the GE 4.3 for my review on it) I think it will be great for eggs and dairly products like sour cream and cream cheese, condiments in the door bin, etc. Right now I have a bag of chicken and a 2lb package of ground beef in the freezer compartment; in the fridge area I have two bags of frozen bagels, two large veggie bags, two large steaks, and a 1lb bag of Tator Tots. Every thing is frozen solid. The door bins are empty only because I haven't been grocery shopping in a while:) The only drawback is the 'hump' that accomodates the compressor cuts into the interior and does make the bottom section of the unit a half space-would have been great if the bottom storage area extended all the way to the back like the shelf above does. I am very happy with it despite that one small issue, and feel this will be around my house in one room or another for a long while.
I do a lot of work in my basement which is where I have put this refrigerator. I use it for cold sodas that I like to drink while working. Very glad I made this purchase. Would recommend to anyone who wants some place to put things away from the kitchen.
The refrigerator is very compact. I use it in my bedroom for soda and snacks when friends come over and for my medicine. I like how there are seven different settings. The only downside was that when I put soda under the freezer section (not in it), it froze and exploded. This would have been bad if I had put my medicine in that spot.
Our office needed a fridge but we have limited space. This little fridge was just what we were looking for. It keeps things so cold, that I actually had ice in my canned soda that was stored in the door compartment. This is only on level 5! Compact enough that we were able to fit it on the small shelf under our microwave. I would definately reccomend this product for RV's, college dorms or small apartments/offices. Only draw back is I wish it had more room!
A bit smaller inside than I had anticipated and only one controller for both fridge and freezer section (my popcicles melted, then strawberries froze), but overall, a good product. Small and quiet and perfect for my needs at the office!
I had purchased this fridge/ freezer for my office at work. I bring home-made food for my lunch to eat. I have to watch out to make sure that the tupperware container I use is not too long or too tall. Also if you do make ice in the ice tray it comes with you have to put the setting in the fridge on the highest setting 7. And if you do have anything else in the fridge it will freeze even if you have it on the thin lower shelf. I had milk in the fridge and it froze. So you have to either choose if you want to use the fridge or freezer. And if you do lower the temp setting then your ice will melt.
It is difficult to regulate the product temperature control so therefore things in the fridge freeze or if you make it warmer, then the items in the freezer section are not frozen. Also the product came damaged. Very disappointing.
This product was quite the disappointment. It looked great, and the price was good compared to other mini fridges. This fridge doesnt keep items held well, and space is extremely limited. I can barely fit a few bottles of wate r and soda w/out something falling out each time I open the door. And yes a 2 liter will fit however it gets crammed in the door, and makes even less room for other things to fit. Would not recommend this to anyone.
When we pulled it from box, appeared to have been dropped on corner, no bax damage though (possiby dropped at packaging company?). Even on the coldest setting, Ice cream still melts. Picture shows 2-liter bottle in door as well as more food in fridge, but teh way it is built you cannot add that much to shelves and have a 2-liter in the door and shut the door. Door was partially off centered, was able to correct by tightening hinge brackets. Kicks on and off more frequently than most.
