I bought this dehumidifier about a week ago. Setup was very easy. I use a continuous drain hose rather than the bucket. So, far it is functioning perfectly. It pulled down the humidity in my basement within 24 hours and has maintained it every since. Some reviews have said that it does not last very long. I guess time will tell. But, for now, it is doing the job it was designed to do.
Arrived earlier than expected. I researched ratings on this dehumidifier before purchasing. Easy to set up (we used our own heavy-duty hose for continuous draining). Well packaged. Large handle on top is helpful. Controls are easy to understand. The unit brought humidity in the basement from 70 down to 49 in 48 hours. Our basement feels normal again--a noticeable difference. The noise level is about the same as our previous unit, so about average.
Works well, I use 3M white filter material on the outside of the air filter housing to keep dust and fine debris from getting inside of the dehumidifier. A couple pieces of double sided tape hold it in place. I also replaced the hard plastic drain hose with a piece of flexible silicone hose, using the original connector. I haven't used the built in water collection tank, for me it is easier to let the water drain into a bucket.
Very happy! This is actually our second one.. for this second one we bought it w larger capacity.. our home must be super humid cause we empty it 2 times a day with a setting of 45. The other one is in the basement.. this one is for the main floor..
Researched dehumidifiers and this one was rated the highest. Meets the ratings. I like how quiet it is compared to our old one. Also like that it came with a drain hose, something many others don't. Also the Walmart price was one of the best. Getting free shipping was an additional plus.
The title says this dehumidifier removes 70 pts moisture per day in a 4,000 sq room. The description says it removes up to 50 pints of moisture daily for a room up to 3,500 square feet. The truth is 50 pts, 3500 sq ft. Aside from the misleading title, it's a solid dehumidifier, fairly quiet, and does a great job. Honeywell also has a longer warranty.
I have this in a 20x20 room with a 10-ft ceiling and it dehumidies the room surprisingly well considering how humid it is here (Gulf Coast). The only thing I wish was different is we have to empty it three times a day so I'd wish that the catch bucket was bigger. However, if the bucket was bigger, it would be too heavy to remove and dump when it was full. I haven't yet tried hooking up the drain hose. That may be my solution.
It's July and had no rain for ~4 weeks. After letting the unit run for 5 days to try and stabilize the humidity in our living room, we noticed the unit ran almost constantly even at a setting of 55% and the unit kicked out a lot of heat. We connected a Kill-O-Watt device to measure the power consumption and estimate the monthly cost to run the unit. After running a full 24 hours, we estimate this unit will cost $22/month! Seems this is not as advertised as the most ‘energy efficient' unit. Quite disappointed in this purchase. Our previous unit was a Toshiba and cost $10-$15 /month to run and didn't heat the room like the ‘Honeywell' does.
I ordered this from Walmart.com and it came quickly. So good job there. The dehumidifier started out doing well, however only two days later it gave an E3 code. So I shut it down per the instructions and restarted it again a while later. Less than 2 hours later it gave the same code. So I contacted Honeywell customer service and they told me that they had no fix for the E3 code and directed me to return the unit back to Walmart for a refund/replacement.
When I ordered the 1st unit about a month ago, it was defective, so I returned it to Walmart. Ordered a 2nd one to replace faulty one and it was also defective. I called the help people for Honeywell's importer and asked if this model had problems. They did not respond to that question. For me to get 2 faulty units was more than I could handle, so I trying another brand. Not Walmart's problem, Honeywell's I would say.
