This humidifier is pretty good. You Will not see steam but it keeps my 1100 sf house about 50-60% humidity and i usually have it on low. Its a little loud at high but moreso ambient noise. It doesnt use electricity, about 80 watts. I think it was a great purchase for only $98 before tax.
Even though this humidifier is not manufactured by Honeywell, it equals the quality of other Honeywell products. I have been in the HVAC/R industry for 37 years and I can tell you that this product does a great job of converting tap water to humidity. I've been running this constantly for a week now and the humidity in my house has gone from 15% to 40%. I would recomend getting a hygrometer to accurately measure your humidity. I will update this info after the end of this season.
When my first one quit on me after 8 years, I immediately started looking for a replacement and I wanted the same model. Found it Walmart and it was at the lowest price. The first time I ordered it, it was out of stock and I waited until my order could be completed. If I have any recommendation to the manufacturer, it would be that the tanks should have a flat bottom so it would be easier to fill but even that is only a very minor inconvenience. We couldn't be happier and if you shop around you can also find the filter at a very reasonable price other than from the manufacturer. Walmart is also my choice for the filter. I also use the Walmart Bacteriostat whenever I refill the tanks and also use the Protec cartridge to keep my unit cleaner longer. A small added expense but well worth it.
I was looking for humidifier for my walking humidor(640 cubic ft) and it is doing a wonderful job. It has settings for humidity level and fan speed. After reaching desire humidity level, it shuts off automatically. There is also a filter inside it so can just put tap water in it. I would recommend this product for someone who is looking for good quality humidifier for really good price.
We have a 1800 sq. ft. 2 storey and have it on the lowest fan setting and the lowest humidity level. We have it upstairs in the hall. Whem my husband opens the door at 5 a.m. to go to work the window steams up. It has only been two weeks but so far I am happy. We went through two other ones before this that we returned that were Essick.
Only had the unit for a few days but my impression is that it is a big step up from the little vaporizers we've used in the past. My son is playing a couple rather expensive instruments (violin and viola) and we need the house at a suitable humidity level to prevent damage. So far, the house is soaking up the moisture rapidly. The unit has two large water tanks. At full power it goes through those two tanks pretty fast. That's a good thing because that water is going into the air but it means refilling everyday on full power. The unit is actually fairly quiet. I'm not sure what people are expecting. Certainly not much louder that any fan you would have in your house for cooling. Where the unit losses a star is that the tanks do not sit level when filling. I can't think of any reason why the manufacturer would design the top of the tank with a curved surface. This makes it difficult to fill and screw the cap on the tanks. Overall, this is a minor inconvenience but a rather stupid design flaw. The plus side of the design is that it has handles - so once you juggle the unstable tanks during the fill, carrying them back to the unit is a breeze. The directions say to soak the filter in cool water between fills. This is a hassle but supposedly, the filter will last longer. I'm happy with purchase and the price is great for such a step up from the vaporizer.
This humidifier does a good job at adding moisture to the air. Our home was so dry that we had visible static electricity when removing coats, changing clothes, and folding blankets. Within 12 hours of running the humidifier I noticed a difference. The drawbacks to this product are the cool air and the noise level. The coolness of the air it puts out creates a noticeable temperature change. However, the air filtration in the unit seems to be working very well. The noise level of the fan is noticeable regardless of the setting. This is a whole house humidifier but I'm not sure where the manufacturer intended it to be set up in order for it to be quiet. After about a week I suppose I don't notice it as much. Overall, it's worth the price.
Recommended to do 1900 sq. ft, we're using it on 1300 sq ft., it's been running on high for 9 days non stop and our humidity has risen from 8% to 35%. I assumed it would be higher than that by now. Quiet on low speed but medium and high it is very loud. Running on high it needs to be filled every 12 hrs.
It runs for only 12 hours instead of 24. It is not Quiet by any means. If you are an older person (as I am) the water tanks are heavy. It does put out the air quality it says and it shuts itself off when it needs refilling. It uses 1 tank of water first and then the other, when this happens, the weight switches to one side and it starts making a louder noise.
Very noisy even at the slowest speed. Forget the higher speeds if you want to live in the same house. It is not a Honeywell product either so forget about the value of that name. They slapped their name on it but it is made by someone else. This is a light weight piece of plastic junk with no insulation from vibration between the parts. If you buy it to try it, don't wet the filter and be sure to save the sales slip so you can return it.
