I just got my hoover and I was debating on spending around $300 on a vacuum. At this point I'm glad I didn't. This vacuum definitely has the power to suck up anything!!! My favorites are the attachment power, the long cord, the capacity of the canister and the suction power of the vacuum overall. I have a big dog that sheds a lot and this picks up all the hair. Now what I'm not thrilled with: the brush doesn't shut off (I have hard wood as well) and I'm getting pelted by debris when I'm doing the hard wood floors. Emptying the canister is easy BUT dirty. I tried keeping it as close to the garbage as possible but i still got dirt from the lid on the floor. I can live with that. I would recommend this to anyone. It seems to be worth the money at this point.

I LOVE this vacuum! The spare parts are stored in the top compartment - very helpful. I used it for almost 2 months before I had to empty it the first time - SO easy! And no bags to worry about. Just empty the canister into the trash and replace on the machine. I would recommend this to all my friends.

My only challenge with this vacuum was opening the box: The screws to fasten the handle to the body were inserted into a piece of cardboard and two of them popped off the cardboard, as I opened the box. We have a Silky Terrier who likes to leave crumbs of Milk Bone in the carpeting. This sucker snatched them up, as well as all the dirt he brings in through the doggy door, without a problem. I had vacuumed the day before this vacuum arrived and was amazed at the amount of stuff I picked up, with this vacuum, on one pass over my berber carpeting. Really nice feature is the dirt sensor: The red light goes on, when you hit a section of carpeting that is dirty. You then can go back over that area, until the green light goes on and know you've got it clean! The onboard tools store in a special compartment that seems like it won't last too long: Plastic door that we'll have to give some time to see if it is more sturdy than it looks. Emptying the dirt cup is a snap: I was prepared to have that be a struggle and to have dirt spewing all over, when emptying it. It's a quick off and on, with a well designed tank and a top mount lid. The whole thing fits into my large kitchen waste basket, meaning I don't throw all the dirt back into the air, when I empty it. Lightweight and easy to run, with a long enough cord not to have to run back and unplug it and replug it in. I really love this vacuum and the price was great for the features.

We have used this product for a few weeks and to date it is working wonderfully. Although it is easy to empty it is a dirty job -- but as they say - someone has to do it .... I believe that this is a great product especially for home use. (It is great on dog hair!)

Granted I had a very dirty carpet, but the filters clog cutting off suction in just 10 or15 minutes. Even after repeated cleanings it wasn't any better. Don't be fooled by claims of the manufacturer cleaning the filters is a very dirty job. I do it outside with old clothes on. It does pick up alot of dirt. Beware it's heavy and loud and the so called power attachment works by suction not a motor. The attachments are easy to use and it looks nice as long as you dust it off every time you clean the filters.

I have a had this vacuum for about 2 years. It is a piece of junk! The lever to adjust for carpet height broke off, the lever to empty the canister is cheap and doesn't fully close, the suction is nominal even when filters are clean, the electric cord is cracking and when I pull back when vacuuming the machine literally turns off. I have contacted Hoover and been told I can purchase repair/replacement parts. I will just buy a new vacuum and it won't be a Hoover.

Of the three of these that I have either purchased or friends and family have purchased, all three were missing the canister cover that lays on top of and seals the canister. Fortunately Hoover sent us two at no charge. But the vacuum has no suction. We sent one to the local repair shop. They said it was clogged. But when it returned it still has no suction. We sent it back to the shop and we're waiting to hear from them. Another one we use has never had much suction since day one and after a few week has almost none. This model was recommended by Consumer Reports. But having a bad personal experience with three of them, I don't see how.

My husband and I have had this vacuum for 4 yrs. It's no longer working. The suction is horrible, it's heavy to carry, i go through belts like crazy at least once a month. So spend a little extra and purchase a different one.

Junk

This vaccuum is a piece of plastic junk. The chamber that catches the dirt from the carpet is emptied by pushing a button on the back of the chamber and bottom is supposed to open up so the dirt falls out the bottom. The first time I tried to empty it, the bottom fell out all by itself and I had to clean it up. After that, I couldn't get the bottom to open at all. I bought this to replace another useless Hoover vaccuum that quit working after a few months (Hoover Tempo). I didn't have any suction problems with this vaccuum but obviously it's a huge inconvenience to have to pry open the chamber every time you need to empty it. I ended up returning mine, and I'm looking into other brands. I have been through three hoover vaccuums in the past two years!
