Very tender and not fatty,if you used a better bbq sauce,like sweet baby rays or BBQ SMOQUE, it would be one of the BEST!!!
I have purchased this roast frequently as an easy go to meal for my family. I always use my crock pot on low for 8+ hours and add Sweet Baby Ray's sauce towards the end of the cooking process. My family loves this meal. Always a success.
This is one of the best barbecue roast I've ever made however it's so too spicy hot. I don't like my barbecue hot I like my chili hot but not my barbecue so I rinse most of that seasoning off then after it's cooked in the slow cooker I add my own special sauce to it and it's excellent! I keep a little of their seasoning and add a lot of mine for perfection
This makes a great BBQ sandwich, pulls apart very easy. Hope our store continues to carry this item.
The quality of the meat itself is fine, and the seasoning is flavorful if you want seasoning that is primarily chili powder....as in...chili flavored pork. But BBQ? No. Just no. If I served this pork to any of my friends and said it was "bbq" they'd look at me like I'd just changed the TV channel to watch rhythmic gymnastics or Rachel Maddow. They'd shake their heads and leave. And probably take my dog.
Even though this roast is OK it's not the original Boneless BBQ Pork Roast. Can we please get the original one back, it was the best one you've put out by far and it disappoints me to not be able to get this anymore.
I had purchased a different type of Hormel roast several weeks ago and thought we would try the barbecue flavor. If it was labeled as chili flavor, the description would fit perfectly. Very disappointed. Will not purchase barbecue again. The other roast was great.
Like other reviews stated, this is not the BBQ that was expected. I thought it would be like a BBQ sauce on the pork similar to pulled pork. Tasted it after cooked in crock pot and was surprised. Looked at the seasoning ingredients and found the following as listed in order on the label : chili pepper, onion, salt, paprika, cumin, cayenne pepper, garlic, ginger, oregano, celery seed, thyme" . Those ingredients do not at all seem like "barbecue". Actually thought the product was mislabeled, so checked the Hormel internet site. I have to rate it as poor, as the taste was nothing like BBQ. Tastes like chili!
I liked the taste of the dry rub, but the roast was all fat. Will not buy again.
Purchased this roast and at least 40% was fat. Ended up with maybe 8 - 10 oz of pork. VERY disappointed and will not buy again and would recommend that no one does.
