I buy this to mix with Bavarian sauerkraut and mashed potatoes and I find it's very close to what I was getting at a somewhat local German restaurant I loved near where I grew up. Very recently, that place went out of business so it seems more important to me than ever to find this product as it's so much faster than making my own slow cooked pork. The problem is the Giant Eagle grocery store in my area (near Youngstown, OH) seems to have stopped carrying it (the locator shows only Giant Eagle locations anywhere within 60 miles of me and one KMart in Warren. I haven't checked every Giant Eagle, but I know the one I go to has put cooked meatballs in the spot that had this product for years and a month later, that's all there is there. The Hormel beef product and other products are still there. It looks like they just stopped carrying the roasted pork with gravy product. I'll have to check another location to see if it's just that location or not (although they have been known to not have something for months and suddenly it reappears).
I bought this a couple of times a few months ago and haven't been able to find it since. (Stop and Shop, Stamford, CT). I tried the Product Locator form but didn't see it listed under Refrigerated Entrees. This was so yummy and my son loved it. Easy meal on a busy night. How can i purchase more?
Put this in the freezer and then thawed it, put it in the crock pot with some seasonings, cilantro, a dash of lime juice and two hours later I had the best pork carnitas ever! Put it on flour tortillas with avocado, queso blanco crumbles, fresh cilantro, fresh tomatoes - as good as any Mexican restaurant. Love these meat entrees for the two of us - we even have leftovers for lunch!
I absolutely love this roast pork, it is exactly the way my grandma used to make it, so excellent! I have bought it many times and have never had a meal that wasn't tender and delicious. The gravy could be a bit thicker but the flavor is absolutely perfect. I went to 3 different stores this weekend and could not find this product, I hope they were just out of stock, because it would be a shame if they no longer carried it (Hannaford's)
Easy to make a one-skillet meal. One bag of Success brown rice and one bag of Success quinoa, one bag of chopped cabbage. Cook the pork and cabbage, season as you like, when the rice and quinoa are done just add to the skillet. I seasoned the cabbage with toasted sesame oil and a little bit of soy sauce. Perfect!
This is very easy to heat up. Has good taste. I was worried it would be full of fat. It was not. The package says it's 3 servings. It is really only 2 smallish servings. If you're making for a family, you might want to keep that in mind. I would buy again.
The pork tastes very odd. It was not spoiled but it wasn't a good tasting portion of my meals. Putting gravy all over it helps disguise that fact.
Horroble taste its same pork that u get in 2lbcans.for$2.00 the sauce is,very lityle there, tasteless. DO NOT BUY. Buy the can insyesd uou gdt twice ad much for1/3the price.
Did not receive my Hormel pork roast.
wouldn't even give one star.I had this delivered,and the package looked odd,like it had been previously open and a feable attempt to take the air out and reseal.From the pictures online from other customers,what I received did not look similar.This package didn't have individual meat pieces or chunks.It was more like two large pieces.And the texture looked more like a dried cat food, or even a pate look to it.I decided that since it was so different than advertised,the picture on package,and the pictures and info online,that it was not edible.I didn't know what this is,so won't take a chance.Trash.
