I bought this product for a friend as a Christmas gift and she has not done anything but raved about this item. I talked to her on yesterday and she was still bragging about the ease and faster response of her computer. I should have purchased one for myself!
The HP 17 inch laptop with AMD processor has a 2 terabyte hard drive; however, this unit comes with insufficient memory! I am a Professional Photographer, therefore, a power user! This machine should come with a minimum of 8 gigabytes of memory! My BBA is in Computer Information & Systems Science; prior to graduating, I majored in Electrical Engineering! I am forced to purchase additional memory, to bring the memory up to 16 to 32 gigabytes! Programs such as Adobe Photoshop, lLightroom are notorious memory hogs!
Bought this for our house when I retired and had to return my work laptop. I was very impressed with how easy the setup was, it talks you through the whole process.
This is a great, easy to use computer. Open the box and plug it in. Eliminates the large tower, space saving, easy to set up. Great for seniors, school dorms, email, etc. Over-all I give this all-in-one an A+
Delivery was very fast & price was good - the problem is I HATE Windows 10. If I ever get it figured out I'm sure it will be fine - just wish Microsoft had let me stay with Windows 7 which worked fine for me.
Unfortunately, I'm not experiencing the same speedy PC performance as touted by a couple of others. It seems a bit sluggish when opening programs, but it is a budget PC with AMD A9 so I don't expect an i7 experience. As an all-in-one computer, the footprint is quite nice. Mind you, I'm coming from an archaic Windows Vista computer I bought back in '07, so this is like trading up from a Yugo to a moderately priced Hyundai. The speakers are quite adequate and I don't feel I need to purchase a "thumping" speaker system. One thing in the description which is incorrect. It states the color is black, but as shown in the pictures it's white. I can't comment on the keyboard and mouse functionality as I purchased a nice wireless keyboard/mouse combo to use - also from Sam's Club. It's the Advanced Combo Logitech model; conveniently only having one dongle for both pieces. All-in-all, it's a decent PC for the price. It just seems more sluggish than I would expect for an A9.
For the price, it's ok but one of the main features i wanted is the backlit keyboard which it does NOT have. I also use it to stream tv shoes/movies and it seems to be on the slow side but for the price I decided to keep it. Nice big screen and it's not too heavy considering the size. Wouldn't recommend due to not as advertised with keyboard
I bought this on tax free weekend and had been looking at it for awhile. Price was reduced so overall it was a good deal. Started making a noise I haven't figured out yet so will have to follow up. Replaces a 9 year old computer so it is much faster.
My son got this computer for Christmas. Out of the box it was a bit slow, but it was acceptable. The touchscreen was a bonus, but is rarely used. Here's my caution to all potential buyers...tonight, after two hours on it, my son was playing his games and typing on his keyboard when the screen (not surface, but underneath) combusted. I called HP and they told me that there is only a 1 year warranty on the laptop (this is advertised with a "2 year warranty care pack") and that this issue would not be covered. It will cost over $300 to replace the screen. This is not a result of computer abuse; it literally just burst. This is not my first HP either. I have been an HP user for well over 20 years. All have been laptops, have lasted over the 6 year mark and each were put to the test as I've traveled around with them. Never has this happened before. The only difference from this one to my previous purchases is that this is a touchscreen and perhaps HP should not have put a touchscreen into a laptop computer that is purposed for movement from place to place. Overall, I would not recommend this specific laptop and since HP's customer service seems to be nil, I would recommend going with another brand.
I got this laptop for my son to use for homeschooling. The price was great ... got Black Friday deal less than $440 w/tax and the features are nice touchscreen, back-lit keyboard and 17” screen. However the speed of the computer was way to slow. Even after defragmentation and removing background programs we didn’t need it was still slower than our previous computer. I did a little research and was told that the minimum RAM we need is 8GB. If you need to search the internet and have multiple applications open 8GB or more is the way to go. One tech support representative told me “I’m not sure why 4GB is even sold anymore.... it just isn’t enough to support even the average users needs”. The processor was sufficient though. AMD or Intel pretty much the same to me. Unfortunately I returned the computer and bought another with more RAM which was $300 more ... but it runs much faster. The old saying is true you get what you pay for.
