My Sister Teaches Young Children English & Cooking in Spain. She says the Children's Favorite thing to do in Cooking Class..., is to make " Ice Cream! " They use this product!
I bought this product because I thought it would be fun for my family and friends, especially the grandchildren. The ball is very eye catching. And the ice cream we made in it was delicious! The children had no problem rolling it around, even the little ones under 3 years old. I would definitely recommend this fun ice cream maker to all my friends. In fact one of my friends said they had been given one as a gift and never used it, but after seeing us make ice cream on July the 4th this year, they left my house eager to use theirs too!
I bought this because I did not know what to do for my Oldest daughters birthday. She was inviting seven of her friends. So I was wondering what would an 9 year old girl do (turning 10) When I saw this I bought each one of her friends one and that kept them busy. They loved it and tons of giggles.
Perfect size for 2-3 of us. Easy and fun to use. A little hard to get the ice cream from the very bottom, but only if I let it get too cold and hard. Don't have to worry about a paddle getting hung up or the power going out. No hand cranking, just rolling it around the floor. Love it!!!!!
We use it twice a week, to make ice cream for the kids. The kids love rolling it between them. The hot chocolate receipe is good. But our favorite is blended raspberries, heavy whipping cream, mixed with sugar before pouring in. And then add diced bananas. Close the lid and then roll it.
A big hit! Bought 2 for 2 sisters along with some ice cream salt and chocolate morsels from Walmart. With school vacation this week they're going to make some ice cream! They'll have a blast rolling these balls around.
I really enjoy this ice cream maker. It's really easy to do and the ice cream is really good. When the ball is filled with all the ingredients and the ice it is fairly heavy. It would definately be hard for kids to toss around. I toss it around for exercise while making the ice cream. And the outside of the ball is not flat so it doesn't feel all that great when you catch it. You have to stop half way through and stir the ice cream, which I haven't been able to do yet without making a mess. But it's really fun and everyone thinks it's a neat idea. The ice cream is really good too. I would recommend this product, but I would suggest that if you have children playing with it that they roll it around.
This unique ice cream maker is as described, homemade ice cream via play. The direction manual is very accurate and you should follow it to a t. You literally fill the end tube with ingredients you choose and the other end with ice and salt and start shaking the ball for the required time period. I made 2 batches so far and the batch made with heavy whipping cream was much better than the one made with half and half. The instructions say the end product will be creamier with whipping cream and it is true. The half and half created more of an ice milk product. The instructions are also accurate on it taking more time using a lighter milk product than when using a heavy cream. The 2 things I was not prepared for was how small the opening of the ice cream cylinder is and the fact you cannot get your hand far enough down the cylinder to get all the ice cream out. It is unfortunate because there is a good amount of ice cream in the bottom of the cylinder. I bought the pint sized one, so perhaps the quart sized one is larger, and thus you will not have this problem. The other thing I was not prepared for was when you first check on the progress you will see the ice cream first freezing to the side of the cylinder and, unless you really scrape it down into the less frozen mixture in the middle of the cylinder you will end up with mostly non-edible ice cream frozen to the side of the cylinder when you open it at final timing. Overall, the ball is fun for a family to do and allows each person to have a taste of homemade ice cream that is fresh and to your liking. I would recommend this product but with the above comments added.
Gave as a Christmas Gift. It worked as it said, its a neat idea. Hard to get the Ice Cream out of the cylinder, but thats a minor issue. The picture makes it look like it comes with a bowl that matches, which it does not. Not a big deal, but it is a misleading. It was larger than I was expecting as well, but not a big deal either. I like that it has grooves and cut outs around the ball, makes it easy to hold and pass around. overall good product, think the price should come down a bit though. It is basically a novelty item after all. under $20.00 would be more reasonable.
i bought this for my fiance thinking he and his 4 year old goddaughter would have fun with it. it makes good ice cream and all but it was messy to make and it's very heavy. the hard plastic hurt the childs hands and she could barely roll it a foot away. it's better for older children. but she did enjoy eating it. since it is so hard to roll it makes you tired and seems to take forever to get done. we played with it for 20 minutes and it was still not done. but all in all it does work if you have older children then i would recomend it.
