This thing is a powerful little programmer to control two light fixtures in your home. One can expand the number of light fixtures / appliances controlled by purchasing more of the Z-wave modules (they are a bit pricy though). The most difficult part was initial programming of the controller. But once I got the hang of it, setup was a breeze.
I got this unit to set some timers for some of my fans that need to turn on and off for my computer servers and home theater high end units in my cabinet. You can set about 27 schedules on it in total. The only thing I didn't like is the dimming feature. It's a little slow on dimming/brighting and you need to very carefully do it, especially when you do this to fans , specially where you cannot see them like the lights. Otherwise if you don't do it properly it will either turn on full, or turn off full. If they had a dedicated dimming key , that would have been great. Occasionally it doesn't turn on/off things. It is due to the fact that when you program it , you should do it from the same distance where the equipment will sit. So that means, you need two people to really program it. Because if you have your light in your bedroom , and your primary control unit is in the living room, you cannot program it from your bedroom. You should do it from your living room. So I guess, that way it makes sure, the remote unit signals reach the main unit and vice versa. I guess they do this by increasing/decreasing the transmission power on the signals based on distance. Overall it's good for the price.
