The Ion express is just what I needed to convert my music to the modern age. I had a collection of cassette tapes ( 467 ) that I haven't been able to use in years due to a break-in that left me without a stereo. Cd's came along and any new music I bought was on this format. Ion express is easy to use and comparatively inexpensive. I've already converted over fifty tapes without any major problems. The only problem I've had was in getting I tunes to accept the files.9( I did an untimely I-tunes upgrade that made my I-pod useless.) Would definitely recommend Ion express to everyone
I bought a cheaper version before this and it didn't do the job. This one is much simpler and does a Great job. Love It...
I came across some old cassettes - especially some audio of my Grandmother - that I really wanted to preserve on CD & this little piece of equipment did the job great for the audio of my Grandmother singing & talking - which was what was of the most importance to me. Afterward I did convert some Christmas tapes over - some worked out good - some not as well - but think it's the quality of my old (sometimes very old) tapes - not the ION express. I really enjoyed using this for my projects - the online help that is available (for windows users) was right on - I followed it & things worked out good
A great little gadget for transferring audio tape content to a computer. Nearly all possible options are covered with USB connection, battery backup, headphone port and volume control. I dropped the player during a tape transfer and it never missed a beat. A very rugged and well built device. The included headphone was wired incorrectly, but still functioned in a passable manner. The included transfer software is easy to use, but only functions with iTunes. The player does not require the software, so I used software I'm comfortable with. Definitely recommend to anyone considering audio transfer project.
Easy to use. Works better but takes more time when you select where tracks are divided. A little disappointed that you have to use headphones to hear - can't roam about much when recording. Easy to use, & a simple way to save the music from old cassettes
This works quite well for the needs I have. I just have a bunch of old cassette tapes that I wanted to put onto CDs. So I'm using the ION Tape Express device and software to transfer the audio from the cassettes to my computer and then I burn a CD of the cassettes. I did have to go into my audio recording device settings and increase the recording level for the USB driver because the sound was so quiet when I first used it. But after getting that setting corrected, everything works well. I also use Audacity to edit the WAV file after transferring it to my computer. I just have to remove the dead space at the beginning and ending of the recording. But that's not difficult to do. This is money well spent since it would cost me a WHOLE lot more to get them professionally transferred.
I ordered this from Walmart and had it delivered to the store for pickup. It arrived very quickly and it was painless picking it up from the store. The only problem I had was that the supplied software required that I sign up and use Apples itunes to load to. The Description mentioned itunes but did not say you had to sign up or else it would not work. I don't know why the songs could not be digitally transferred directly to my computer as an mp-3 file and leave Apple out of the loop. You could then transfer the mp-3 files to any device of your choosing keeping Apple out of the process. The unit works great and the ear buds provided are first class.
Had to go to a website to download the program. The included cd did not work. Very touchy device. May work one minute and then just cut off. Will eventually get teh music to mp3 but it may or may not divide the songs. Quality of sound okayish. I'm a bit disappointed.
The ION Tape Express worked for two cassettes, then malfunctioned. I went to the web site to trouble shoot it, tried everything suggested, and it still would not function properly. The sound from product to computer was no longer recognized, nor could I play the tape before recording.
Not what it's advertised as, does NOT convert files to MP3, need additional software. DO NOT BUY if you are looking to convert cassettes to mp3!
