great sound

I bought this for my son for christmas. It was a blabk Friday special. He loves it. It is sleek looking, lightweight and really has great sound for a small, well priced system. He can't wait to go back to college and show his friends in his dorm. I would say it is a great buy for the buck!

Great sound from a small package

My wife constantly tells me that good things come in small packages ;) and she's right! These speaker sound great for the price I paid. There's no bass / treble tweaking, but the don't need it as they sound fantastic. They aren't the latest model, but if it ain't broke! The included remote works well at controlling my iPhone 4's ipod controls. It's not the most comfortable remote to use, but it gets the job done.

Great Value!

I was concerned about the price; it seemed too cheap! But do not let that fool you. I read reviews from other websites and saw what the normal price is. This was a gift for my mother (early 60s) so we checked it out before wrapping. This is a quality sound system. Great for an average size room. It gets loud but I don't think loud enough to be heard over a large party (good for a party background music). This is perfect for single or small group listening to music. Quality is good and we have a Bose sound doc to compare it to. It fits our I Pod touch, Classic and Nano. Has an auxilary cord for use with other items--phone, mp3. Worked great with our HTC phone. Has a nice low profile, light, and easy to carry. However, there is no battery option. Comes with a remote and made for a nice gift.

Awesome Sound!!!

JBL has proved again that it's products can provide amazing sound, comparable to Bose/Harman and Kardon. I was planning to go with the Harman Kardon Ipod dock, but decided to buy the JBL 200ID, and I am very happy with the sound and its compactness. The only problem with this docking system (and you will see this on any website for this product) is that the songs sometimes skip/repeat/pause on their own. This can be a little annoying but as soon as you play them again, you will forget about it. I would recommend this to everyone who has used/listened to Bose/Harman Kardon. It is a lot cheaper and provides amazing sound. The bass is clear, the high and low notes are clear. You might encounter extra treble when you play some songs on full volume. Compared to the size of this system, it provides good, powerful and clear music. My friends love me again. Lol...

We purchased this for our 11 year old daughter for Christmas. She LOVES it. The sound quality is good and it is easy for her to use. The only complaint is that the clear plastic insert for the iPod Touch did not work with her having a cover on her iPod. My husband modified it on his own and it works great now!

Decent Sound

The quality of the sound that is emitted from the speaker is decent. I have only used it in a medium sized room with minimal background noise, so I'm not sure how it holds up when the volume is turned up to a higher level. My only qualm is with the inserts that are designed to be used with different devices when you plug them up to the speaker. The insert for the iPhone/iPod touch prevents the device from fitting snugly on the metal prong, and therefore the speaker will not recognize the device and the sound will not come through the speaker. I have to forego using the plastic insert in order to get my iPod touch to fit down onto the prong. If you're using this speaker somewhere where you are not afraid of your device getting bumped and possibly bending the prong, you'll be fine.

Doesn't work well with Iphone

I purchased 2 of these, one for my brother and one for my husband. Both have the Iphone 4. Neither of them are happy with the product. The phone does not fit securely into the device with the Iphone and both of the complained that when listening to Pandora the device causes the phone to skip songs. It also does that work at all with the new Ipod 7th Generation that we purchased. They were also not thrilled that there was not a battery back up with this device. I guess you get what you pay for.

Good when it works

Sound is good, and the physical design and adapters seem fine. However, the player seems to randomly skip songs when playing directly from an iphone 4s I'm using; and when on Pandora, it randomly pauses and restarts. Sometimes it works well for hours; other times, it doesn't stay on for more than a few minutes. Sent a request for assistance to JBL, got no response after an automated acknowledgement. Would like it a lot more if it worked consistently.

Amazing sound, worthless device

The sound quality is amazing - too bad it randomly skips songs for no reason. iPod Nano 3rd Gen is what I'm using, with the newest firmware. No amount of power cycles or factory resets fix it at all. Lots of other reviews on other sites confirm this issue (as well as one where the volume keeps increasing on its own). The remote is tiny, feels cheap and is totally unresponsive. I would not recommend this product at all - and JBL's tech support is a joke. I promptly returned it and got something else. Avoid at all costs, even if it's free.

Great sound but awful quality

Loved the price and I bought it during Black Friday's free shipping promo so that part is good. Got it in great time but that's where the greatness ends. I plugged it in, docked my iPod Touch and started listening to music. The sound is really good for a small unit and was perfect for my kitchen, but it quickly started shutting off randomly, skipping songs and if I dock anything just to charge, it will just randomly start playing music. I hit the stop button and 5-10 minutes later it just turns itself back on. And, when I want it to play music, it shuts off or plays half a song and skips to the next. It's almost as if the remote is possessed. Before I realized there was a problem with the unit, I already had another one on order to use in another spot of the house. I thought the second unit must be OK because why would two exact same units have such random problems... well I was wrong. The second unit also shuts on and off randomly and skips songs. The random acts of weirdness happen when either my iPod Touch or iPhone are docked and both those items play perfectly on my other name brand dock so it's not a problem on my end. Both units are going back.
