I have been going to a stylist for years and after feeling robbed of my time (it always took half a day), and money I gave this a try. Excellent coverage, fast process, and I haven't gotten this many hair compliments in years! It leaves my hair so shiny, not lackluster! My only complaint is that it is hard to locate in stores so you have to order online in advance.
I stopped coloring my hair at home about 6 years ago unitl I found this product. I got caught short on a holiday weekend and did not have time to go to my stylist so I colored my hair at home using the Dark Caramel Blonde. I love the results. I am a dark blonde with ash tones and this is the perfect color for me. I have continued to color at home for the past year and have saved big bucks from what I was paying at the salon. I use the root only method per the instruction booklet and have had great results!
I used John Frieda caramel blonde haircoloring. Since prior reviews said John Frieda products run a shade darker, I did my roots and left the entire product on my head for fifteen minutes only. My color is a little darker than I might have chosen but it looks great. My natural hair is a warm gray blonde color. It originally was reddish, blonde brown. I have a red head complexion and need a warm color. The best result is not having my hair feel dyed when it's wet.
I really like the foam, easy to do. I used the dark caramel blonde and it looks really good, But it is a bit darker than it shows on the box. Natural, not brassy or yellow, also my hair tends to turn red when I go lighter than my natural color and this did not cause it to turn redish.
I've been coloring my hair for a number of years and had been trying to find a dark caramel blonde that would be close to my own natural color. After years of poor results, I had just about abandoned hope, but then I found John Frieda's new Dark Caramel Blonde foam hair color. The results are amazing. I began with a light level 8, grey looking, dull ash blonde, and my hair length was well below my shoulders. Here is what it DOESN'T do: it doesn't burn my scalp. It doesn't have that intensely unpleasant smell of the many other permanent hair colors that I've tried. It doesn't make a mess during application. Here's what it DOES do: it left my hair shiny, silky, and healthy looking. The resulting color is a perfect match with the swatch on the box. It looks natural. The color is even from root to tip and has natural low lights and high lights. I followed the easy to follow directions for application and left it on my hair for exactly 20 minutes. I couldn't be more pleased and I will continue to use this product. I am delighted to recommend this hair color.
I love this hair color but I can't find it at any local stores! Stores only carry very dark colors! What's going on with John Freida??
After using the shade selector guide online, I chose the dark caramel blonde shade (my hair was dark ash blonde with some grays but the ends were more caramel medium to light blonde from old hair color). After coloring, the initial color was a bit darker than anticipated, but not much. Once I washed it once or twice later in the week, the color is perfect! It truly IS dark blonde with caramel color AND it covered my grays and has lots of shine and bounce. It was a great blend of the darker roots and lighter ends. Other reviews that have said it's "darker than on the box", well--of course! What your eye sees looking at your hair will not be the colors the camera can pick up and it does lighten a little! I am very happy with the color and will use it again!
This was the first time trying John Frieda or a foam application and it was very easy. No harsh smells - will try John Frieda Foam again. The last time I colored (months ago), I used a Lightest Golden Brown from a different company. I was excited to find a Dark Caramel Blonde since I was thinking I would like to go a shade lighter -- trying to keep some of my highlights. Well my hair turned out darker than the color on the box and darker than when I started. I think it's more like a brown than a blonde. I will try again -- just need to find the correct shade.
I have naturally medium brown hair that I have colored off and on for the last 8 years, and I have used the product in the past to make my hair a darker brown. Before coloring it the 7NGB, my hair hadn't been dyed in a year and a half so I had about 4 inches of my natural color at the roots, with my ends being a medium brown with redish undertones from a previous coloring. My goal with the 7NGB was to go a little lighter/more towards blonde for the summer without going bleach blonde. This product did an amazing job at giving me an all over even coverage considering my roots were so grown out, but it gave me more of a copper-y/light brown color than blonde tone that I was going for. I was between this and the 7PBN, and I think I should I have gone with that one since my hair has more red tones in it naturally and it would have given me the more dirty blonde look I was hoping for. The color isn't terrible and I am fine with it, but I feel like this could be labeled more on the red side than a "Carmel Blonde."
Good: This product was easy to use and did not smell horrible. Customer service was also friendly and polite. Not so good: I used color 7NGB, which turned my naturally medium blonde hair RED. Maybe this would be a beautiful color on someone with a bit darker hair already, but I don't think it looked great on me and was not at all what I expected. I did not get any compliments after dying my hair, lets put it that way. The dye also dyed my roots very dark, while leaving my ends practically un-dyed, giving my hair a weird ombre look. I dyed my hair 3 months ago and I still cannot get rid of the red...oh well. Pictures below are my hair before and after...natural medium blondes beware, unless you're looking for red.
