I have been looking for good beef summer sausage since Tom Thumb quit handking Hormel brand. In their local grocery ad Johnsonville was advertised 1 week before Christmas. I purchase 1 role to try and I think this is the best Ive ever ate. Thank You Johnsonville!
I am very picky with my meat. I decided to give this a try after seeing it for the first time at the store. WOW. Best beef sausage I ever had. It's everything I have been looking for. It's flavorful and just the right texture. I decided to slice it up and eat it as a snack throughout the day. Very impressed with this product, don't hesitate to give it a try!
This is the only summer sausage I have found that meets my criteria for flavor and tanginess without being overwhelming. It also has a good texture. Most sausages out there are too bland and rubbery. The very fact that I am taking the time to write a review (which I very seldom do) speaks to the satisfaction I have found with this product.
I grew up eating this sausage. 42 years later, I haven't found one that even come close to tasting as amazing as Johnsonville beef summer sausage! I now live in Canada and have it shipped throughout the year.
Very good sausage, but it is extremely over priced.
Too greasy cost more than other better summer sausages but pretty good flavor and excellent texture.
Summer sausage was substituted, which I agreed to, but am sorry I did. It is now where as good as the Stone Ridge I had ordered. Otherwise everything else was good as usual. My fault for accepting it and I am trying to eat some of it. It won't go to waste, my puppy is liking it just fine for treats
Maybe I got a bad package, but I thought this was awful! It was so full of fat you could actually see the fat, and rather "mushy", no firmness to it. I threw it out, never again will I get this. I'll stick to Hickory Farms summer sausage, I know theirs is good.
Check closely before buying - I received a contaminated one during an order pickup that was teeming with a nasty, toxic, green-and-white microbial growth of some kind. Very unsafe.
