I got this product in my monthly box and it rocks! I tried it right away and I love it. I have a very oily tzone but dry cheeks. But I still put the product over my whole face and I am so impressed. Not only did I stay shine free, but my skin felt baby soft and my large pores vanished. And it still looked great when I got home from work. I will purchase this again!
I have both the Illuminating & Mattifying primers I received as a gift and they are both amazing. The Mattifying one made my skin look so smooth and even. As I age I am doing my best to take care of my skin. This primer did not clog my pores or feel to heavy on my face. It smells so good and is just amazing.
Best primer EVER! I have tried many brands and they never do what they claim. This one is light weight, smooth, and instantly mattifies my skin! Applying makeup on top is seamless! Combining this with Insta-Filter is a huge win for me - no more oil seeping through my makeup!
It?s a nice, light weight, but is a bit too drying for my skin.
I got this as part of my July box, and I'm honestly not sure what it's doing for me. I don't have naturally oily skin, so it doesn't reduce shine per se, however it acts as a nice base/primer for my eyeshadow and highlighter. It also seems to be a bit moisturizing, which is great since my skin does dry a bit as Fall approaches. Overall, I don't think I need to pay almost $25 for a moisturizer/thing to hold my eyeshadow in place, but it could be a lot worse. Would recommend for someone with oilier skin, possibly, if it actually does "mattify" oily skin types.
I have oily skin (even more so in the summer) so I am always looking for a good primer. I was excited to try this but hate to say I was disappointed. This did absolutely nothing to absorb "excess oil" on my face & I was still shiny and oily hours later. The only plus for me is I like how it smells and the fact it doesn't leave a sticky residue on my hands. However, I don't think I'd get another tube of it.
I don't wear full- or heavy-coverage foundation, and have really been enjoying using Julep's Cushion Complexion on the daily, so I got this in my Beauty Box hoping it would help cut down on some of that mid-day shine. But the first time I looked in a mirror about four hours after applying my makeup, I was surprised at how the two products were reacting... it was actually worse than wearing no primer at all! I thought perhaps I had used too much product and scaled back the next day, but had the same splotchy, pore-accenting results. Using this Blank Canvas Mattifying Primer under the Cushion Complexion makes it look like I just got out of the gym. I'm still giving this two stars because 1) the primer itself smells and feels great, 2) I have not tried all options and have a feeling this product might be better under a more traditional liquid foundation, or with a powder foundation. If I ever get a better result, I'll change my review!
I was so excited to try this product but unfortunately it doesn't work for me. I get a very oily t zone throughout the day and by hour two I was already looking fairly oily. But that wasn't even the worst part. By the time I had applied all my makeup so almost an hour later my makeup was already breaking up. And by 5 hours later my makeup looked horrible (pictures posted). Don't even bother touching your makeup up or blotting because it'll just get cakey and start breaking apart as soon as you touch your makeup. I used all my normal products and foundation so I know for sure it was this primer. So disappointed doesn't do what it claims so will be returning it :(
I have been getting Julep products for year and this is the first product that I do not like. I have really oily skin and was super excited when this came in my box this month. However, I notice absolutely no difference before and after applying this. It has no mattifying effect what so ever. The directions say to wait a few minutes after applying, but even after waiting, there is no difference. Very disappointing :(
I've been using the primer for a bout a month and it does absolutely nothing for my very oily skin. It actually makes me sweat within 5 minutes of putting it on and had never mattified my skin or makeup. I may be an outlier bc I have extremely oily skin so if you're like me, avoid this product.
