If you want a light-weight, easy to handle, regular bicycle with no gears, no handlebar brakes, and no complications, this is the bike for you. I'm 78 and couldn't handle my 26" Diamondback any longer without fear of crashing. The tires were too small and thin, the 18 gears were now cumbersome so I went searching and found this jewel. I highly recommend it for neighborhood pleasure riding. The center ridge tires make for a soft ride, the over-sized seat is much more comfortable than those thin hard saddles, and the ride upright keeps my back from aching. Go for it.
I ordered this bike after checking out reviews, the price of $85 and free shipping helped as well... I ordered it yesterday at 9am and arrived today at 9:27am! 24 hours and 27 minutes later!!! Easy to assemble, took less than 30 minutes and then took a casual 3 mile ride and enjoyed the ride. The bike looks great, the black and orange is awesome and seat is very comfortable! Would recommend to anyone looking for leisure bike to purchase!
The price coupled with the previous reviews sold me on this bike. Ordered online to arrive at the Fed Ex store up the block from my job without having first seen the bike in person is probably to blame for me getting a bike that is too big for me. As I know nothing about bikes, other than how to ride one, and previous reviewers claimed that the Walmart employees didn't do a great job assembling their bike, I decided to take it to a local bike shop around my house to assemble it. Their bikes run anywhere from $250 to $1,600+ which for me wasn't an option. It's a perfect cruiser bike; although I find back pedaling to stop difficult for me being that my feet don't lie flat on the floor when I'm on my bike. Please note that there are no brakes on the handle bars so when attempting to stop by back pedaling you should start a couple feet before you actually need to stop as the bike takes a while to come to a complete stop. The seat I find to be very comfortable even after riding for almost 5 hours. The wheels being so big make it easy for me to go the distance without having to pedal as much, good thing since my legs are so short (my feet do reach the pedals). Everyone compliments me on how beautiful the bike is and can't believe I paid so little for it. Honestly I would recommend this bike to anyone over 5'5, even women, specially those who don't want a flimsy looking girly bike. I purchased a black wire basket at the bike shop, which they set it up for me in the front, and I now have a gorgeous bike that can hold my purse or anything else up to 10 lbs.
I ordered the bike on a Wed. and they said I would get it the following Wed. shipping was free and I recieved it 4 days earlier than they said which was great. It took less than 1/2 hour to put together and I took it for a ride and was very plessed. Nice bike.
Bike was in excellent condition when I opened the box. No damage to any parts, no missing parts. I had no problem assembling the bicycle, but I do have experience. I bought the bicycle to take camping with us and to ride near our home. Fender mount brackets are a little flimsy, but no other complaints.
This bike was very easy to assemble. Took my less than 1 hour. You do need some different kind of tools though like some different size wrenches and screwdrivers. The only negative was that my bike already had a flat tire upon arrival which cost me an extra $10 to replace. Besides that highly recommendable for short distance rides and in flat areas (since you have no gears on this bike).
After receiving this bicycle as a gift, I have to say it rides great. Definitely not for speed or off-road riding. Perfect for slow, relaxing rides. The black and orange paint scheme is very appealing and reminds me of Harley Davidson motorcycles! The only problems with the bike so far is that the left side of the three-piece crank keeps coming loose. I have to tighten the bolt every day. Not sure if this is a defect or just from normal riding. Also the seat seems to be a little uncomfortable at times of long rides. If you want a cheap, comfortable cruiser, the La Jolla is definitely worth the price!
For 100,00 you can't beat it. Does the job just fine!
Received it a couple of days ago. Took only a short time to put together with no problems. Very light weight. Took it out for a ride right away. The large seat was great compared to some of the thin ones I have rode on. The only problem I had was the Front Fender rattled. I rode it home and did some adjusting on the Fender but it did not stop the rattle. I then took the tire off and then the fender. I could not see what was causing the rattle. I then reinstalled taking care of how I put it back on and tightened it as tight as possible without breaking something. I took it for another ride and the rattle was still there. On 4/9 I sent Kent bicycles service a e-mail for suggestions but have not heard back and it now 4/11. Overall I'm happy with the bike but not their service department.
Since I didn't have a car when I was shopping for a bike, I wanted to have a bike shipped to my home. At the time I checked out cruisers at Amazon and the cheapest ones they had cost twice as much as this bike along with $38 for shipping. So I was thrilled to get free shipping from Walmart on such a heavy object. As for the bike, I really like the orange trim on the black frame. The bike rides smoothly and going uphill is no big deal. You can always get off and walk if necessary. Not having gears to deal with is a big plus for me. Assembly was no problem. My only con is one that is probably true of many lower priced bikes, that is the bike tire tubes puncture easily and I got a flat on my second ride. So invest in some tire liners and puncture resistant tire tubes. Who wants a flat when your out riding around? Once I did that it's been so enjoyable riding a bike again, often to go shopping (I bring a backpack and always carry a portable tire pump and pliers in case something needs tightening) I'm 49 and so I encourage all of you middle agers to get back on the bike even if it's only for a 10 minute ride. It's fun!
