I like this unit. It's quiet and I have it in a large area so I wasn't sure if it would be enough but it cools it very well. What I don't like is the window mount vent. Very flimsy. I made my own with wood and mounted the stock mount to mine and it is very solid in the window that way but it did need something more.
The product arrived promptly and exactly as described. I hooked it up in five minutes and it was cooling the room immediately. The window panel works just fine with the foam strip around it, and I was easily able to remove it the next day and shut the window. Excellent product.
We've been using this unit for 2 weeks and really like the results! It cools a 600 sq. ft. area and then some by sending cool air down our hall, (in 90 degree weather). This is a great buy, I bought the extended warranty...just in case, and it is still cheaper than many of the others. Over all I recommend this AC unit.
We live in an 1800 sq. ft. 2 story home. Our down stairs is fairly open and kind if U shaped. This cooler kept our downstairs nice and cool even on the 90+ degree days with our large west facing windows. It's a bit loud but aren't they all. Our only complaint would be the window adapter kit for the vent. It wasn't near big enough to fit in our window and we had to actually cut pieces of wood to make it work. It also came with foam strips to put around window which ended up being a huge sticky mess that we still have not been able to remove. If we had to do it over again we wouldn't use the sticky foam at all. Over all though, the unit works wonderfully and was very well priced!
I LIKE EVERY ASPECT OF THIS PORTABLE AC. IT IS EFFICIENT, SMOOTH, QUIET, POWERFUL AND EFFECTIVE. THE FEATURES ARE EASY TO USE AND UNDERSTAND. THE ONLY ISSUE I HAD TO OVERCOME IS THAT THE WINDOW ADAPTER DOES HAVE TO BE REDESIGNED BECAUSE THE DIAMETER OF THE HOSE IS BIGGER THAN THE WIDTH OF THE ADAPTER, THEREFOR IT WILL NOT SIT LEVEL IN THE WINDOW WITHOUT BEING PROPPED UP A FEW INCHES. ( see photo) NOT A REASON TO AVOID THIS PRODUCT, BUT A MINOR DESIGN FLAW. MY ONLY OTHER NEGATIVE IS THAT THE FRONT LOUVERS OF THE AC UNIT START IN THE CLOSED POSITION AND OPEN TO THE FULL OPEN POSITION EVERY TIME IT IS TURNED ON. THEN I HAVE TO SET THEM TO MY PREFERRED POSITION. I WISH THEY WOULD OPEN TO THE LAST POSITION CHOSEN, THEN THEY WOULD ALWAYS BE WHERE I WANT THEM. I WOULD BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN.....NO DOUBT.
Never heard of Keystone prior to this purchase. Initially bought an LG at 12,000 BTUs for 399.00$. Returned the LG after seeing this unit. For 3 dollars more, it offered 14,000 BTUs (covering 900 sq. ft. compared to LG's 400 sq. ft.), a 2 year warranty, with a five year warranty on the sealed (compressor, etc.) components (that is compared to LGs 1 year warranty and a 2 year on sealed components). The remote can be carried with you and actually lets you know what the ambient room temperature is using the "follow me" feature. The Keystone is actually quieter and environmentally better made than the LG. I researched all the off brands at Walmart and found many companies have been around for sometime and are well reviewed by many component reviewers. Hands down better so never judge a book by it's "unknown" cover.
I happily picked up my new portable air conditioner which I ordered from PA drove to my camp in Maine and picked up at the local Walmart in Ellsworth, Maine. I accepted delivery even though the box looking like it had been to Iraq and back. Two holes in the box and generally a beat up cardboard container. I took the unit out and immediately found the lourvre which is weat the cool air comes out was broken obviously during shipping. I set it up anyway to see if it works properly otherwise. It cools very well as advertised. Fed Ex was the shipper to the store. I vote to discontinue using Fed Ex!!!!! I picked this item up Friday, opened the box today (Saturday) and am returning it Sunday. I will order another and hope it survives the transport. This is not the manufacturers fault or the sellers fault, but it does appear to me that Fed Ex is the cultprit. I wonder it Walmart might use UPS instead?!
In general I think this is a good product. It does a pretty good job cooling down our 700 ft. approx. living room. Setup was generally easy and operation reasonably quiet even with the fan speed cranked up. My only complaint with this product is how flimsily the hosing connects to the outlet on the A/C and at the other end thru the window. We are expected to 'screw' the hose into the grooves and supposedly that is enough. But this is simply bad design. Once you do screw it in, it just does not feel secure and you have to make sure that you dont ever move the unit a couple of inches or let the kids or pets near the hosing because it can come off very easily. I've already had it come off twice and now taped both ends to hold it secure. It shouldnt have to be that hard. A simple latching mechanism would have been sufficient. While this is a minor annoyance, it is not the end of the world and certainly should not warrant any concerns. It is for the hosing problem alone that I have not given this product an excellent rating. Otherwise quite the good machine.
This unit does the job for sure.My bedroom is only about 400 sq.ft. though. It cools the room down fast. If I leave it run for extended hours I actually have to turn it to a higher temp because it gets freezing in here! (that's not actually a complaint hehe..)Besides from the remote that seems not to work(sometimes) on all functions like the "swing" feature I am very happy with this product!
I liked that it was portable, was a good price & had nice features. However, I had to return it because it was overloading my 15amp breakers. It was rated for 12amp with a max of 13 amp. My tester showed that after running for about an hour, it was drawing over 16 amps & then tripped the circuit breaker. This indicated to me that something was wrong with the compressor.
