Lucy is my cockatiel, and although she always seems cold, she recently got sick, and was on antibiotics and I decided to introduce a source of heat to her cage that would be safe for her. At first glance, she was unsure of her new "square friend" but she quickly "warmed up" to it (haha) and she has not left it's side, especially at night when she's less active. This little heater may have saved our Lucy's life-the heater kept her warm and she used her energy to get well again.
Great purchase for our parakeets! I felt so bad seeing their feathers all fluffed out because we keep our house pretty chilly, especially in the summer. Thanks to this bird warmer, I don't have to worry about them getting too cold when I want to turn the AC cooler. They seem to love it!
i ordered this bigger one cuz the smaller ones were sold out. "Beak-Beak" seems to like it. His mom wanted me to put it outside his house. Still seems to warm him,as i have it placed, just below his perch. Puts off nice slight consistent heat. Nice long cord with detachable connection, which makes it possible to disconnect it during the day when moving him towards the Sun, and plugging it back in at night when moving him farther away from the window.
My birds love these warmers!!!! One of the best items I ever bought for them !! Keeps the night chill at bay and they sleep a lot better ! For some reason this one doesn't get as warm as the other ones I purchased. Bought a replacement cord it works fine now . can't replace it she chewed the wire , ahh life with Cockatoos ! I highly recommend this product. Also use pvc to protect the wires !! Lol
The bird warmer is compact, well-made and easy to install. It also unobtrusive. I have a Bourke's parrot and she's shy, so I have not actually seen her use it yet. I placed it right near where she perches to sleep and now she sleeps on a different stick. She's very shy and stays away from anything new. This may change when the colder weather hits. I'm very happy with the product. I wish I had bought it years ago.
This is a wonderful product. It took a few days for my bird to go bear it but once he did, he loved it. Sleeps next to it every night when it gets cold.. !!!!
My cockatoo loves the warmer. I find him sitting by it very frequently. The only reason I gave it a 4 star rather than a 5 was because the diameter of the flat washer was not wide enough for the spacing on his cage bars. I had larger washers, but they didn't fit the bolt on the warmer. I worked it out, but I would suggest supplying larger washers.
I love K & H heaters, I have used them for years. I decided to get the larger heater and found out the power cord is shorter than the ones I already have. It's too short now and not suppose to use an extension cord. Frustrating
it would be nice if the connector will be near the heater. then it will be simpler to mount and move heater and move the cage.
We bought the exact same heater 2 yrs ago and it was great but only lasted the 2yrs. This heater is barely putting out any warmth at all and we are not happy with it.
