A Great Toy For 4 and Up

This is a great toy! I'm a 65-yr-old woman and wanted something to amuse my very smart, very active, almost 5 yrs-old, granddaughter. I put the set together with her helping. Even she understood the diagrams. After a few practice tries, she was able to pull the car backwards a short way (about ten inches) on the floor to wind the wheels, hold one tiny back wheel, click the car easily in place on the launcher ramp (where you can leave it to make sure the tracks are tight and not touching together), push the lever, and watch it go. We did it over and over and it went fast and fun, just as we'd hoped. A car WILL go off track at the first loop if the tracks aren't clicked in all the way, or if they touch together near the loops, but it's easy to nudge them slightly apart. The tracks themselves move slightly apart sometimes because of the speed at which the car races over them, but they are simple to slide together. The set can be put on either a carpet or a bare floor, and the cars zip with lightning speed over the loops and into any barriers we set up, including the enclosed sturdy cardboard "Ring of Fire," hitting the 3 small plastic barrels, sending them flying. For $10 (even if $20) at Walmart, this is a great toy. Yes, it's plastic, but has no sharp edges, and it hasn't broken anywhere and anyone can join the fun!

You get what you pay for, but it's not too bad!

This is not as bad as the other reviewers make it seem. We got this last year because we had to bring a gift for Santa to give our son at our big family get-together, and just needed something cheap since we had already bought all his good Christmas presents. We did have to do some adjusting on the track. The spacing on the first loop has to not be touching the track next to it for the car to make that loop. If it can get past that first loop, it's clear sailing afterwards. It did become very clear that a 3 year old cannot play with this alone. The cars are the type you pull back, then need to hold the wheels while placing it on the track into the locking mechanism that launches the cars. Well, we just pulled the track back out today, 1 year later. I had to google and search for it so I could see a picture and remember how it is put together, which lead me to writing this review. Well, he LOVES it now. He can pull the cars back and get them into the launcher with no help. I will say, when it comes out of that last loop, it FLIES across the room. He has the bigger and much more expensive double loop hot wheels track, that happens to be VERY LOUD, and it only works half the time and ONLY the 1 car that came with it works with it even though it is a 2 car track! SMH!! So, this track may not be great, but it is well worth the little money spent on it.

This toy is made of cheap plastic, as expected since it only costs $10, but it is a very fun toy and works great! My 2 year old and 5 year old love it! It took a little while for my 5 year old to get the hang of winding the car up by sliding it backwards on the track, but once he got it he wouldn't stop playing with it. My two year old cannot wind up and set the car in the launching pad, but he can push the button to release it and loves to watch the car go! One car did break the next day from being over-wound, unfortunately. I would still recommend this toy if you don't want to spend a lot of money!

This toy was very cheaply made. The cars do not spin around the track. As a matter of fact, the cars do not move very far on the track, at all. Don't waste your money on this set.

We ordered the Thrill Master Speedway set for my 2 year old son, because it was the only basic one we could find. Just 2 loops and a launch pad, perfect for him. When we received it we was very upset at the quality of the track, very thin flexible plastic, manual launch pad..we put the track together anyways and it fell apart 4 times within the first few minutes of play. We had to constantly hold the pieces together and the cars wheels would stick. I guess what do you expect paying 10$? We would of had glady paid more, but like I said this was the only simple looking one.

The price was attractive because the action pictures on the box were so exciting. So, for less than $10. bucks... why not. Well if things look too good to be true they usually are. This thing should have never made it into the manufacturing stages as is let alone distribution to WalMart. What you have to do is delete one of the loops right off the get go. Set the track up like this: Launcher, straight, straight, straight, loop, curve, straight, curve, straight, and jump. We used our deleted loop and connected it together with itself at the bottom to simulate a ""through the ring of fire" at the end of the course that props up the jump. The cars are fast, just the engineering and the picture on the box are a humorous, false selling point... Experiment and make it your own, otherwise, kid(s) and parent(s) will struggle unsuccessfully with it the way it is designed.

I bought this for my 3 y/o twins who love to play with cars, trains and planes. They get a kick out of cars going in a "loop". The price was great and I thought it was a great starter track toy. Too bad the cars could barely make it to the first loop. They flip over upside down as soon as they get out of the launcher. I bought it an hour ago and I'm packing it up as it's going back right away.

Picked this for my 3 year old as a reward. BIG disappointment when we put it together and could not get the cars to stay on the track. The cars kept flipping prior to the first loop. We took it back for a similar speedway; Hotwheels! Better quality and worth the $10 difference. The store was excellent with the return -- Hickory store in Chesapeake, VA. Satisfied little dude, but not because of this toy!

I bpught this toy for my grandson last Monday the 10th of April 2012, for his 5th birthday that day. The toy was priced right and it was just what he wanted. Brought the toy home. Box said for ages 3+. With only pictures to put it together, we got it after about 10-15 minutes, the hardest part was the launcher. We got the toy set to play and could not make the cars go, oh you have to pull them back and get them pushed into the launcher to make them work, even a 5 year old could not do it without the car spinning the wheels before getting into the launcher. If you got the car into the launcher without spinning out the wheels, once you pushed the trigger to launch it went NO WHERE! No loop-de-loops it barely got to the first loop, and if it did it fell off if it got to the top of the loop. POOR RATING SHOULD BE PULLED OFF THE SHELF. I am 50 and could not make this toy work. DON'T BUY THIS TOY!
