The best gluten free flour. I make crapes and banana bread and my kids love it. Great price, thank you walmart.
Tried many gluten free flour brands for over a year, this brand is by far the best! At last homemade gravy again....
Likes: Used to make gf bread recipe from Gluten Free on a Shoestring by Nicole Hunn. All-purpose gf flour is best for bread as it doesn't contain xanthum gum; this is added per the recipe. Very satisfied with the bread! No grainy after-taste!! Dislike: Cost! However, Walmart was the least expensive of all the sites checked.
You can bake anything gluten free with this flour. It's the best I've found.
Makes great pie crust, french bread and pizza crust without an after taste.
First off, let me say how geeked I am that Walmart carries a variety of gluten free products that are more reasonably priced than the health food stores. I hope that Walmart can up the ante on helping the American public eat healthy at a lower cost without jeopardizing quality. Now about the flour power, I am able to have pancakes and fried food if I want to without the side affects of regular products. What I have not been able to rectify is getting the salt level up without having to over season, but I say that to let people know that seasoning fried food is difficult with all of the gluten free products I have used to fry fish or chicken. It's an issue that I have learned to accept until I figure something out but At the very least gives me an opportunity to have foods periodically that I usually can't get out. For that reason alone, this brand gets five stars for flour power! Peace,
I bought this and tried the recipe on the back and made blackberry cobbler. It was so delicious and my family loved it! We were so excited to find a product we could all enjoy. The recipe was very easy to follow and the flour is easy to work with. Just be careful when pouring from the package because the particles are fine and will go into the air.
i'm delving into gluten free baking a bit at a time and found this product expensive but very tasty and easy to work with. it is very ''light'' so spoon or scoop out with care as it is 'fly-away' light with a wisp of air. i have tried with sugar substitutes [like splenda] and the taste is ok. flour-sugar-oil is a hard habit to break...but if they are wise and this gets more popular the price may come down a bit. wheat flour producers are probably hating that prospect.
America's Test Kitchen highly recommends this one but says to let it (and any GF flour blend) to rest for 30 minutes (but no longer) if the recipe calls for a short bake time. The starches need this time to hydrate to avoid that notorious GF grittiness. I made their chocolate chip cookie recipe with this flour and actually preferred it to ATK's own custom blend because I like my cookies to have that bit of spread. My non-gluten free kids loved these chocolate chip cookies! I will definitely stop making their favorite wheat based Mrs. Field's chocolate chip cookie recipe as the gluten clearly does not have any advantages. I just wish King Arthur would take advantage of ATK's published research and write the 30 minute rule into their own recipes - and give Gluten Free a proud name.
Having read other reviews of this flour I was anxious to try it. Walmarts' price is by far the best one I could find. Made waffles with it the first day it arrived - they were every bit as good as the ones I used to make with regular flour. I was delighted. Just wish they could get the price down!
