We had a Bosch 1100W Over-the-Range Microwave since 2006. It performed well but a kitchen remodel brought the need to upgrade our appliances. After researching numerous models we settled on the KitchenAid KMHC319ESS. It has only been installed 2 weeks but is just remarkable. The ascetics, the features, the functionality are meeting our expectations. Great job KitchenAid!
I'm not one to write reviews, but I had to make an exception!! This convection microwave is better then I could've thought it would be. I'm a single person and this appliance allows me the options of an oven but in a smaller capacity which ='s less electricity & usage & also it doesn't heat up my first floor in the summer time. It's basically another oven that happens to be a microwave as well, this is nice to have "double ovens" for the holidays or parties. My absolute favorite feature is the steamer option!! This is reason enough to purchase this convection microwave!! It comes with a basket type container that has a strainer insert in it as well as a lid. You only have to put 1/2 cup of water in it & put say a piece of salmon in it and it somehow knows how to magically steam/cook my salmon to the level of perfection. It works awesome on veggies,( great for meal prepping for the week). It also makes pasta & rice, crazy!! It actually makes everything perfect that I've tried. I've also baked in it & it's much faster then my oven. Baked goods, strombollis , you name it it cooks it up perfect & fast. Oh yeah and it's a very smart microwave, I'm pretty sure it knows things I don't. The buttons are sleek, and easy to figure out. Honestly I couldn't have picked a better option, it has everything and more without needing a Harvard degree to figure it out. The buttons walk you through what you need to do for whatever you are cooking, baking, steaming or microwaving. Buy it, you won't regret it. * it did take a little bit of time for it to make its arrival at its new home. It's a special order that was on back order. I will say though it was more then worth the wait. Good things take times & there's probably a reason it's always out of stock.......
We've had the microwave now for a month and just love all the features. Has taken a little time to figure out the options, but well worth the effort. Our previous microwave was 15 years old and Wow have they came a long way! Looks beautiful and the black stainless appliances have really updated the look of the kitchen. Bought our microwave several months ago and it has been everything we hoped it would be. Love the design and controll functions! The only thing that would make it over the top would be to have the door open upward out of the way? But that's about it! My wife loves the multifunctional controls with 6 speed fan, lighting functions, convection oven, etc... Just love the overall look and function of our microwave! Nothing but class!
I was going to stay with Maytag for my appliances, as have a Fridge and the Dishwasher, but when this was less expensive and the awesome look of the front, I had to have this microwave! It sticks out a little further in the front than my old microwave, but that just helps with venting the stove top. It is so quite when it is running and has a chime when it is finished. Highly recommend it and would buy again!
We bought this for our newly remodeled kitchen. Our builder commented that it looked like a vault! It is very classy, I do not think it cooks as efficient as my old kitchen aid it seems to take longer to microwave things. Use to take 45 seconds to do nachos now it's over a minuite. This does have some easy features for microwaving however the convection piece is frustrating and I am disappointed there is no " toast" option I expected to be able to use this like my " toaster oven" toast, bake and broil as I was told when purchasing. It has been a learning curve and something I will have to learn but there are way too many steps no option just to set oven you have to decide how to classify what your cooking too much guess work if your item does not fit criteria and timely.The instructions are not clear as to needing to take the rack out when microwaving the warning sticker makes no sense at all and no where in the directions do I see anything other than make sure rack not touching sides but the " warning sticker" reads remove rack before using oven--- the convection oven or microwave oven piece??? I assume microwave but then it proceeds make sure rack not touching sides when using but it sits on brackets so it is secure. otherwise I would have given this a 4 star I think there is room for improvement on this item. This is a very classy microwave design. Our contractor for our kitchen remodel said it looked like a vault. I love the look of it!! It does not seem to work as efficient. Nachos use to take 45 seconds, now it is over a minuite. Disappointed the convection piece does not have a " toast" option as I was told it would bake , broil and toast was hoping to get rid of toaster oven completely. The convection oven is not user friendly too many steps to use it and you have to try to classify food which is often a guessing game if your item does not match up to their options. There is a rack and warning sticker is not clear " remove before using oven" well I thought it was for the oven??? I assume they mean before using microwave but it is not clear and it's only for 2- level cooking but I was not familiar with what this meant and instructions are also not clear!!! It is very quiet and has several light and fan modes which I really like! I feel there is definitely room for improvement on the convection side making it more user friendly otherwise I would have given higher rating. Overall we like it! I've only had my new microwave for 1 week. So far I really love the brightness of the light it outputs over my stove. The 6 speed fan really works well. The actual sound level of the microwave running is very quiet. The only negative I would have to say is the notification volume when the microwave ends or your using the timer. It would have been nice if they had a volume control on it. Hard to hear if your in the other room.
Bought the microwave/convection along with a matching Kitchen Aide range. So far the performance has been great, but the overall quality is not. The chassis has started to fatigue, yes literally bend at one of the top two mounting points. Closer inspection shows the top bracing to be very thin gauge stamped steel with two 3/8" nut fasteners supporting most of the weight of this fairly heavy appliance. Both the top and rear mounting brackets are a fraction as robust as the kitchen aide model it replaced. So although its performance is excellent I could not recommend it.
The exterior stainless steel is the cheapest, thinest material I have ever seen and bought on any appliance. The first delivery came with a dent on the front which was quickly replaced by the store. The second one dented and scratched when I brushed it with a plate, this material is the worst presentation of "steel" I have ever seen. I would not recommend this product due to the poor materials used in the exterior. Total misrepresentation of stainless steel, should be listed as stainless tin!
