This KitchenAid kettle is the nicest one I have used. The weight is good in my hand whether it is almost empty or very full. The handle is stable and the kettle is very sturdy. The removable lid makes it easy to fill the kettle and much more convenient than pouring water into the spout. Water heats quickly. And I love the color. After a good time we have come to love our Kitchen Aid 2.0 quart Tea Kettle. Cleans up well after grease splattered by it's stovetop neighbors, has shown no problems with finish being perfect still, and heats up water fast as any we have tried. It just looks so cool too. Matches our modern design kitchen with stainless steel everywhere the red kettle sets off the steel well. The ease of pouring hot water without mits is great too---no need for holders as the handles and relief cap are well insulated. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I did my research and looked at MANY other Kettles. So glad I bought the Kitchen Aid with the Stainless steel Handle and the trim band. It is a very good quality and I really love the look! My only problem was to choose the color: white or green ;-) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I bought this for my husband a couple of years ago, because it is all metal with very little that can melt on it. It is also very beautiful in the blue. It has lasted longer than any other teakettle to this date. However, I have watched the inside of it develop a rust deposit. I have tried to clean it out, to no avail. What I don't understand is, Where does this rust come from??? We use only distilled water, because this area water is full of minerals. This kettle is porcelain coated inside and out. Could it be that the inside was poorly coated with the porcelain. Vinegar will not remove it, it is rough and brown, now. It used to be shiny blue. I have used a no-scratch pad to try to clean it, but it just takes some off and I cannot get to it easily enough.
Had this kettle for 2 years . Got the yellow one and it looks great , however noticed rust forming around the lid and spout within 6 months . Rust is now truly inside the kettle rendering it useless. The handle and spout still are in great condition and probably are the reason for the high price . Kettle now sits on the stove as decoration and we boil water in a saucepan. Loved the kettle , don't like the rust.
I purchased this a few years ago and have used it almost daily since then. The problem I'm having is it about a year ago has started to rust in the spout and the inside. It it beautiful and well designed but I never would have expected it to rust. We even take time to dry it off after use.
I bought this kettle over a year ago, and trusted it big time. I was so disappointed when I looked on the inside and found it rusting. I feel it's a health Hazard since I don't know how long I have been drinking tea with a tinge of rust.
The kettle works fine and looks nice, no problem, but after three and a half years of usage I noticed rust spots. No acidic detergents were used, no tap water, just bottled. The enamel quality is not acceptable. I wonder, what is the expected lifetime of this kettle?
I purchased this tea kettle in Jan 2015. I was ok with the product until I recently noticed rust developing on the inside of the spout. This kettle has a design flaw that allows water to gather and sit within the spout to promote the growth of rust. My other issues, as some other reviewers have stated, is that the whistle is not very loud on this product - whether it is partially full or over half full. You also need a mitt to handle the kettle once it's hot enough. I have always been a big fan of KitchenAid products with about half of my kitchen appliances making that statement - but this simple kettle disappoints me the most. This product only has a 1 year limited warranty. For the price tag and my diligence of care, a kettle should not start rusting this early. I'm giving this one star because it is a very aesthetically pleasing addition to the kitchen stove and it is a good weight. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
The lid is extremely hard to get off, and the fact that the handle of the tea kettle doesn't move - I smack the top of my hand on the handle. The handle gets too hot to handle, I know there is a black rubber on the handle, but enough of the metal shows that is burns the hand. You can barely hear the whistle of the tea kettle...it is on the quiet side. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)
