Initially I was a skeptic about the ability of the multi-cooker to discharge its various features. I was so wrong... It discharges each task with ease and efficiency. Moreover, I have found that it replaces a number of other kitchen appliances/cookware - eg. slow cooker, cast iron dutch oven, oven roaster, etc - in my kitchen. I got this right before Christmas and it works really great for slow cooking and rice. I got the stirring arm and I definitely would not recommend it. It just doesn't work that good. One of the problems is that it doesn't hold the temperature without the lid on. So if you are searing meat for beef stew, it doesn't stay hot enough if you are stirring it - it is too heavy for the stirring arm and it shuts off after a few seconds so the motor won't burn out. It worked better to sear a pot roast and then slow cook it. It does work really good for cooking rice - it comes out perfect every time. I don't think I would recommend it to a friend because it is expensive for what it does. Also, I did not receive a recipe book. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
