so much better then the edge

Has the edge for about two years and it did not have a lot of internal space due to everything preloaded. I had a 8 gig card and it was always saying my phone did not have space. This one has so much more room and I can decide if I want to move programs! I have also had my phone fall into the tub twice and still have no issues! Hydros are the best phones I have found!

Great solid phone. For the money, you can't get better. 1.5 gb RAM makes ALL the difference in the world for performance and no other phone at this price has it. It's a solid, well built phone. You do need to tweak the phone so you must be familiar with Android and the apps that can improve performance. Uninstall all the bloatware, disable all of the widgets, and it's lightening fast. Waterproof, shockproof.....it's great!

Kyocera Phones Are Very Underrated

Some of the first cell phones ever (back in the 90s, and car phones) were the big 3, Nokia, Kyocera and Motorola. I wasn't even aware they still made phones, until I saw the Hydro Edge I got last year at BB. Knowing myself they were a good brand, and seeing it was water proof sealed the deal. The Edge is still good but I wanted good "worthy" upgrade with the same good features. Well with the Hydro you get the most bang for your buck. And no I'm not talking about useless bloatware you don't need. Which I found on my friends LG Volt, not a bad phone but at any given time you only have about 140 to 80mb of memory available to operate the phone. Out of 1 gb. So way to much stuff you don't need. I was pleasantly surprised to see this phone has(d) 1.5gb, closer to the higher end phones. And I've never seen it drop below about 600mb of free RAM, even with lots of apps opened. The call quality is mediocre I will say, not as loud as the Edge, but it's still good. And I don't talk on the phone for hours anyway. So it will suffice, (also when you go under *settings, *system update, tap on software/firmware update and it will make the phone run even smoother) as it may be quirky when first activated. Which is Boost, NOT the phone. Camera is full 1080p, looks good, pictures are pretty clear, not really vibrant. But hey it's a good priced phone, and I already have a digital camera. So it's no big deal. Also the front facing Camera is 2.0mp, which is only good in well lite areas, which is true with any phone. Volume is super loud, the speaker(s) actually have bass. So if you want someone to see a video, listen to music out loud you'll have no problems at all. Headphones also sound great, and Netflix streams great. Also I'm not a big fan of Kikat so I'm glad this had the newest (last) version of Jelly Bean which is great for this phone. Other great things, it's waterproof (resistant) in up to 3.5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes. Not even sure if SG5 and Iphone 6 do that. Also it's shock resistant from drops, and has an alloy (metal looking) panel that surrounds the side, very durable. The whole phone just feels like it's super tough. Also has military grade specifications, not sure what those are though. Just says that on the box. I'm not accident prone, but never say never. I use to dunk the Edge in water to wooo people, and it still worked like a champ. So with all these features it's much better than any prepaid phone on the market because of all it has. Not sure why people give it such a bad rep. Probably because they don't update the software. Last but not least the battery life is awesome (nearly as good as the LG Volt) especially when lowering the brightness to lowest settings when not in use. And also there are special backgrounds made to save on battery life. Also it has ECO mode which cuts out things you don't need while the phone is on. Also for those who don't know leaving FB on in the background will kill any battery. So I'm very pleased with this phone, or yet I wouldn't have written this review (obviously), which i rarely give a lot of praise. Lots of good phones out there but none that have the durability of this one. Most feel like wheat thins/pop tarts compared to this which won't budge/ or bend. It's like a patio brick. Great phone, great price (even at 129$ or 149$). Got mine on sale for 79$, which is the best deal I think I've ever gotten on any electronics item.

I have had this phone for several months & have had no serious issues! I can browse quickly, while others wait for their page to load.. I have plenty of space for pictures, games, & apps. Battery life usually lasts me 8hrs (durring my work day) if im not using it religiously. The phone has a good weight to it, so it does not feel cheap! The only thing i dislike is the camera. Poor camera quality (takes forever to focus when i need a clear shot).. other than that, i love this phone. I recommend a phone case though, my screen shattered after the first week... but a T.V fell on it :/

Good Wifi Device, unwanted phone.

This phone has met my expectations in the sense that I needed a device that I could check my gmail, browse the internet, and try current apps with only wifi. It pesters me every time I boot it, with no option to disable it's attempts at activation. There's a lot of oem installed apps that can not be uninstalled or even 'disabled'. I've even encountered one that will relaunch when it is Force Stopped. I believe it is a location based weather app., which I do not need, nor is it affected when disabling location services.. I don't know how smartphone camera sensors, shutters, etc., work, but it is a mild disappointment as well. Don't get me wrong, I have some good pictures from the phones camera, but there are a couple of low light images for the front camera that don't make sense and a there were a couple of blurry images from the front camera with nothing more than the subjects eye movement being the cause. My favorite thing about the phone is that it's enabled me to try out some of my free app of the day apps that I've accumulated and that I could not use on my last device due to hardware compatibility. It's pretty good when it comes to compatibility.

Phone works great. We live in a rural area, so service is a little off and on in some area's. have not had a chance to go up in the mountain area here to see if I can get service.
