My 17 month old loves this. It can stack up, and he also likes putting the layers of cake inside each other from biggest to smallest. Excellent toy.
I gave this cool stackable birthday cake to my 2 year old for his birthday and it was hands down his favorite gift. He loves to stack things and the cake is just perfect. It also made for some great photo ops! I plan to buy more so I have them on hand to give out as birthday gifts. It is a perfect gift (GREAT price too!!!)
I've purchased this at least 7 times! Two sets have been in my classroom for more than 5 years and they're still great. Children from 1-8 cannot resist stacking and nesting these repeatedly. Two sets are better than one because you can make an all chocolate and an all white cake. They're sturdy and attract both girls and boys. So much learning going on for spatial relationships, number recognition and sequencing, colors (the icing), and pretend play. Awesome play value.

WE LOVE IT! One of the best purchases I made. We love a lot the layer cake and we have a lot of fun with it. We use it to stack the cakes, to count them or their stars, to talk about their height and diameter, to sort them by the colour of the layers or frosting, to fit them together, to decorate them, to carry the tower of cakes without them to fall down, etc and there is so much more to do with them. I would definitely recommend it.

Great to use for number identification and size vocabulary (big, small, large...) I also use it for concept of one ("put one on"). My kids enjoy playing with this, but it also is made of thin plastic and shows wear quickly!
The layer cake was a challenge for the children. It encouraged them to persevere and explore the sizes in order for them to place the cakes in the correct order and complete the task. It encouraged them to work together and help each other. The children also enjoyed counting the stars and discovering what number was written on the side. Some of the children had a different number of layers and were able to talk about who had the shortest and tallest cake towers.
I bought this for use in the Toddlers Room at our church nursery. I love the large size as compared to regular stacking cups, but I was disappointed in the thickness of the plastic. The also seem to like a thicker edge at the openings of the cakes making them a little difficult to hold on to when building the tower.
