I bought this in the store because we've done other LEGO advent calendars, including LEGO friends (41353) and LEGO Star Wars, and we've been happy with them. With this set, we are less than a week in, and my daughter feels like she might as well open all of them because they aren't anything special. I have to agree. Today's set was the worst, with just two 2x2 squares to put together, a pretzel, and a dog. If you are looking for those “specialized” (ie, non-LEGO-ish) pieces, maybe this is your thing. If you're wanting a nice LEGO advent calendar so you can build something each day, this set is not for you. I'm attaching a photo of today's set and, in fairness, a set from the day my daughter said had the most pieces to put together to date (chimney with stocking)
