We bought a house that had this item on the dock. The former owners added a hasp to keep the lid down. My son did not fasten the hasp, and the next bad storm flipped up the lid and blew it off the hinges, never to be seen again. The box is what it is. It is not really intended to be in high winds. It is not a dock box, it is a deck box. \ That said, it is a nice looking box for storage if the environment is not too severe. I may reinforce the corners as those seem to loose when I examined it.
The beauty and craftsmanship of this deck storage outweigh a couple of minor problems. Shipping was slow. The product was listed as fully assembled. However, time was not of the essence. The instructions were clear. It takes about an hour to assemble. My storage box has already been ""tested"" by the weather. An incredible rain storm passed thru and not a drip inside. Good storage capacity. I placed all my intended garden equipment inside and still had sufficient room for more. The cedar smell was intoxicating. Definitely worth the price.
This product is nice but even so, I wouldn't have returned if it had only been ""so so"" because Jeremy (service rep) was so FABULOUS! He researched my request on line himself to offer me the best available price. Love Hayneedle and love Jeremy
Deck box arrived quickly was packaged well.
We just received and put together, now will come the time to see if our cushions remain dry when it rains. I read a lot of reviews on the storage boxes and this was the concern. We had purchased one several years ago with the vents, it did not keep the patio cushions dry. We did not check after rain and our cushions mildewed, expensive lesson. It was easy to put together and looks great.

The Good : Shipping was very quick, the color is accurately represented, and the box is quite spacious The Bad : Not as sturdy as it looks, especially for the price The Ugly : Assembly is easy until you get to the hinges, which are poorly designed and tough to install. So bad that I can't imagine the the engineer who designed this product has actually tried to assemble it.
I received a defective product and have not had any response from this company after 2 attempts.
Haven't even taken it out of the box... The color is Bright Mustard Yellow. It's supposed to be Med Brown with wood grain showing - like in the photos where it looks very nice. Dull finish.
Looked great on photo but it is VERY light weight. It arrived damaged - not from shipping but rather due to manufacture defect when they were putting pieces together. Hayneedle quickly arranged for pickup of the item for return so that's good but I won't reorder this item.
