We almost did not purchase this product due to some negative reviews but for our purposes, it works great. We have been inundated with stink bugs in the home and got tired of catching and releasing them to have them reappear in the house again. This bug vac really takes care of the problem.
This is a backup for a 15-year-old one that still work. It was easy to order and receive. It is a great product that removes the insects with no mess on surfaces. Nice to avoid insecticide when possible.
My wife and I have been dealing with silverfish and spider problems in our home for years. An occasional fly and mosquito also enter our abode. Since the Bug Vac arrived a few weeks ago, we have eradicated a number of silverfish, one fly, two mosquitoes, and a few spiders. It seems to work best when the large blue capture cup is removed. My wife hunts for silverfish, because she loves the product so much. We are very pleased with the Bug Vac, and highly recommend it.
Been using it for nearly a year, it works decently as long as the tip of the vac is pointing up atleast a little and it's a little hard to clean, but I like that you can decide to electrocute the creatures or not and it's rechargeable. And if the insect or arachnid fits in the tube it will work decently. I would like it to have more sucking power and electrocute more powerfully because the bigger the bug the less it works. But overall I'd recommend it and buy another when mine stops working but would love an upgraded version.
PROS: Has contained & Killed every bug I've caught w/it (haven't 'missed' or 'lost' any bug I've tried 2 get) CONS: Vaccuum suction is not strong enough (4 smaller bugs anyway) when I use the end-saucer attachment The scoping length will collapse while I'm pressing against the ceiling (maybe I just press too hard?) The battery-life needs 2 be closely taken care of in order 2 get more than one use out of it at a time ~~Glad I have it; but, $40 is a bit high for over-all quality.~~
This bug trapper does a great job of sucking up the nasty stink bugs that are so numerous in our area. However, when the bugs are "gently zapped", the vac does not completely contain the odor. Our home has wood ceiling border, and the cup of the vac doesn't fit as much as I would like. Overall, it's a good buy, especially for one like me, who HATES stink bugs
the suction of the vaccum is not very good so far, will see if it is enough to actually pick up any bugs
This vac would be great for the occasional bug but I bought for a summer gnat problem where I want to suck up 10-20 gnats a night. Complaints: 1- doesn't have a bag to catch the bugs so they get stuck in the screen. I have to bang the vac to get rid of them. 2--fills quickly. After 10-15 little gnats it won't suck anymore so they end up alive in the tube. 3- can't catch anything in mid air. This vac only works if you catch a bug on a hard surface. A regular hand held vac works better. Save your money.
I bought this because we have a basement where bugs travel frequently, so I thought instead of running to find a shoe or something everytime having something like this product would be nice. Pros: It does catch the bug and zap them. Its easy to catch a bug with the big cup at the top. It has a flexi end so you can bend it a little for hard to reach areas. Easy to empty the dead bug into the trash without having to touch it. Cons: Battery is not good at all. You can only catch one bug at a time. Unit is kind of big for catching a bug. Overall for the price not to bad of a product.
I purchased this item for camping and it barely sucks up bugs. Maybe little tiny gnats. My husband and friends made fun of me for buying it too. It needs MUCH MORE suction power.
