I have a granddaughter on the way & wanted to knit the "baby" version of the "Tree of Life" heirloom blanket/afghan. One skein of "Pound of Love" is sufficient for the project. This is a very nice, soft, washable, worsted-weight acrylic, & the color is very pretty, although a bit lighter in hue than what it appears to be on the website. Unlike cheaper synthetics, the yarn is very easy to work with & does not split or fray. Wal-Mart's price is about 20% less than other commercial websites, I didn't have to pay shipping/handling costs (just the usual sales tax) & the yarn arrived at my local store almost a week earlier than promised. Wal-Mart staffer was incredibly helpful & friendly. All in all, a terrific deal. Highly recommended for craft knitting & crocheting.
This is the best value I've found for yarn. IT IS ONE POUND. I bought it in LILAC to knit a baby blanket. It's great because there is enough yarn to knit the whole blanket and maybe even a pair of booties. Lilac is a beautiful color for a baby girl - not as girly as pink but still feminine. I found the yarn easy to knit with - it is better than Caron's yarn, Red Heart's soft. It doesn't split too much. People who are used to really nice yarns may not love it, but I thought it was great. This will be my go-to yarn from now on. I also note that it doesn't shed onto my clothes - big plus. The shipping was easy - although the FedEx stores have annoyingly long waits. I think I will use the $0.97 shipping and just chalk it up as part of the cost (which is SUPER low).
I have used Pound of Love for years, love it. the colors are great, the quality is good and of course the price is the best... highly recommend, especially for baby blankets as there are very few threads to weave in at the end...
Nice color, and very soft.
I love using this yarn to crochet baby gifts. Just the right amount of yarn for an Afghan, several hats, booties, and diaper cover!
I was delighted to be able to purchase a pound size, soft yarn at an excellent price.
Love this yarn couldn't find it anywhere
The yarn works up beautiful, I have made 2 baby blankets from this yarn and also used the pattern with hood. The one that is on label. I had left over yarn from last year, then ordered more to make another baby blanket. The price was great. You will love it.
This yarn has a nice softness to it for baby or toddler, but it is noted a 4-ply worsted weight which I found a bit misleading. It is more like a 3-ply baby sport, so if your pattern calls for a 4-ply worsted this may not be suitable. It has a good body to it that the toddler blankets hold up well to active kids and lots of washings, maybe good for toddler wear. For tiny baby I found it too heavy, preferred a lighter weight softer yarn.
I bought 2 skeins of this yarn on clearance at my local store before Christmas, only to find that I didn't have enough to finish my project. I searched all the local stores trying to find it, but was unsuccessful. Went to Walmart.com and found exactly what I needed. Package arrived in three days, and color matched perfectly. As for the yarn, the large skeins seem to have a lot of tangles and thin spots. Nothing major that would affect the quality of my project, but it did slow down progress.
