70lbs of dresser for $59.00? You're on! I got this dresser, and reading the previous reviews I also followed the suggestion of adding wood glue to the pieces for stability, and using candle wax to help 'lubricate' the drawer tracks. The finish/alder-look is actually decent. The drawer handles are plastic, but for the price, I can deal with it. If it bothers me too much, I'll go to Home Depot and pick up more attractive ones for $5. It took me approximately 1 1/2 hours to complete this, start to finish. I used a phillips head screwdriver, a hammer, a 25-cent votive candle, and wood glue. The instructions and drawings were clear. The drawer tracks are labeled "left" and "right", it's just engraved into the plastic and difficult to see. Also, I was impressed with the tv-dinner style plastic tray that the hardware came in, versus the annoying multiple little bags you typically get with assembly furniture. I will buy more from this set, I am quite pleased.
The drawer is not the best quality overall, but we were looking for a quick delivery and wanted something to match our gest bedroom furniture, also size is quite practical witch decent storage. The best part is we only paid couple bucks for three day delivery and tax which is great.
I purchased three and spent about an average of forty-five minutes assembling each one. I do have a lot of experience with RTA furniture. I only needed a Philips screwdriver and small hammer. The drawer slides are plastic. I would have preferred the metal ones. The handles are also plastic but I planned on swapping those out later. It's a sturdy dresser and is nice looking.
after reading all of the bad reviews, i was concerned about purchasing this item...it looks great and is very sturdy.. a lot of people say that the drawer bottoms fall out, but i think they are unaware that the drawers are only supposed to support up to 20 lbs..i did not use anything extra to hold the bottoms in place..the instructions and pieces were made perfectly clear..the only downside was it said it took an hour to assemble and it took two and half...but i love it and i am going to purchase another once..cheap, sturdy, and easy
When puchasing inexpensive "do-it-yourself" furniture, obviously you cannot expect top of the line. With that being said, this is a wonderful product for the price. I've read some reviews complaining about how the dresser does not have wheels and tracks for the drawers, but what can you expect for $60? I am very impressed with the look, and yes the drawers are different than most dressers I've ever owned, but they work just fine. Basically there is a groove on both sides of the drawers, and you install plastic runners inside the frame of the dresser, and the drawer slides right onto the runners. As long as you are gentle with it, I can see the dresser lasting a very very long time. ***IMPORTANT TIP*** When assembling this unit I HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING WOOD GLUE. I picked up a small bottle of Elmers Wood Glue at Walmart, and used it in all of the connections and joints. Doing so makes the process a bit longer, as I would assemble certain parts and let dry overnight-but trust me-it is well worth it. Without wood glue the unit would most likely be "loose" or "wobbly" but with the glue, it really looks and feels like it should be sold at a name brand furniture store.
The dresser was pretty easy to assemble. it doesn't have the traditional sliding drawers, so it just slides in and out, nothing too bad, as of yet. There's a space between the drawers and the sides even thru everything is screwed tightly. I have the desk and file cabinet so the room matches overall which is nice. the dresser suits it purpose i keep just gym clothes, accessories, bath suits stuff and guest towels in it. My small 22" tv is also on top of it and its not tipping over or wobbling at all so that good. I'm keeping the box for at least 6 months just in case, previous reviewers have problems, rather be safe than sorry
This is a bare-bones chest of drawers. Drawers slide out -- particle board on plastic sliders. No rollers and certainly no ball bearings. The drawers only open about 2/3 of the way. If I saw this on a demonstration unit in the store, I would not have bought it, but it's not quite bad enough for me to return.
This product looks great - but arrived broken. The thin wood had broken inside of the box. However, I decided to set it up anyway to see if I could make it work. The wood continued to break and buckle as I put the nails/screws in. This product is not easy or intuitive to assemble and it is poor quality, making assembly near impossible even if you do understand how to put it together. The dresser is currently leaning to one side, about the completely collapse. I am currently in the process of trying to get my money back. Do not buy this product, unless you want to invest in additional structures (ex: replacement wood, liquid cement, etc.).
If you are looking for a piece of furniture that's inexpencive but with a short life span this is it. WARNING: moderate assembely skills a must as assebly instructions somewhat complicated. Parts are cheaply made but if parts are damaged ,broken, or missing they are easily replaced for free at manufacturers web site. Not from Walmart. I had 1 side panel damaged and 2 draw pulls and half the assembally hardware missing. Took 7 days to replace. SUGGESTION: Use glue, not provided, to assemble along with supplied screws. Also replace supplied cardboard back panel with plywood or luan. A cheap fix and it makes the unit much sturdier.
Let me expalin why. I bought this because it looked really nice. However, its defective. It came in the box all packaged up. However after I was almost done putting it together by hand which took me about two and half hours, the very last drawer had two things wrong with it. First, the one piece of wood that the track slides on was broken... perhaps in shipment or at the factory. Second, is the front of the drawer. NO pre-drilled holes in this last piece. Cannot try to screw holes into it because the wood is so hard. And... there are way too many holes to attempt to push a screw in by hand. If I attempted with a drill, they most likely won't line up. I have called them three times, and have ordered the parts over the internet two times and still NOTHING from them. No return call, no return emails or reply's. So its sitting here with 3 drawers, the last one on the bottom I cannot use. I paid $149 for this and cannot be returned. HOWEVER I found a way around to getting my money back. I called my credit card company up and explained it to them. They want to give it another 3 business days and if no reply from them, we do a "charge back" to the company and they are also charged an additional $50. This has now been sitting here three weeks that I cannot use.
