It's a fine plastic frame. It's not a high end frame, it doesn't look cheap... it's just right for a school office, or a kid's room where you want something but don't want to be heartbroken if it gets banged off the wall. A nice surprise is that it did have a white mat. The hook/holder (on back) folds flat, which is making it a little tricky to hang up, but it seems durable.
