Easy I add chopped jalopenos to the batter and put in small muffin tin so you can a lot. I also add parmesan sometime about 2 tablespoons to the batter a great taste better than regular cheese.
I've used this cornbread mix for years. My husband don't like jiffy mix because it's sweet. This is like making homemade cornbread but all you mix is it with an egg and milk. I also add a little hot cooking oil, a TBSP of mayonnaise and two TBSP of sugar. My husband has never said it's sweet. He LOVES it and so do I!!!
This mix will make the best cornbread you ever ate.
This is the brand Southerners use to make cornbread. True Southerners have to have our Luck's pinto beans, Vidalia sweet onions, and cornbread with iced tea at least once every week as a traditional meal we were raised eating and still continue to eat this meal. To make one 8-inch skillet of cornbread, use 1 cup Martha White white self-rising buttermilk cornmeal, 1/2 cup Half & Half milk, 1 beaten egg, and 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil mixed together. Pour batter into a butter-sprayed 8-inch oven-safe skillet, and bake in center of the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes until top is golden brown. Remove to a round plate, and cut into four equal pieces. Serve with a can of Luck's low-fat Pinto Beans served in a bowl, and a peeled Vidalia sweet onion cut into 4 wedges. Serve with a glass of iced tea.
I love Martha White Buttermilk Corn Meal Mix. It's one of the few without added sugar. I'm from the Deep South and never had cornbread with sugar. I bought it because I was craving cornbread even though I had to buy 10 lbs!! One in the cupboard and one in the freezer. I highly recommend.
Product ( cornmeal) given to me was old! It had an expiration date of May 3, 2022. Bag was beat up and spilling out of the bottom. I had to return to the store after getting home and realizing it was as expired!!
It used to be my favorite now it didn't turn out like cornbread! So disappointed! Tried three different times making it and trashed it! Bring back the old recipe please!!!!!!!
I just bought this product 10/20/23 and when I just opened it today 11/13/23 it is FULL of grain beetles FULL!!!! Walmart you have to do better at your stores TOO MANY COMPLAINTS, I'll shop Publix
I have learned my lesson. Do not buy anything in a paper bag that has loose granular in it. Both bags had been busted during shipping and the cornmeal was all over everything when I opened the box.
This bag of corn meal had weevils all in it and we could not use it. I would like a refund on my account.
