My family loved the McCormick Meatloaf seasoning, although I would change the directions on the back just a bit. I feel like it needs a little more bread crumbs than the recipe on the package called for but other than that it was great. The flavor was superb. Meatloaf is one of our family's favorites meals so I have tried many other meatloaf seasonings. You can't go wrong with McCormick. There is enough to use with 2 pounds of ground beef but I only had one so I halved the entire recipe. If you are using 2 pounds ground beef you will also need, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup ketchup, tomato sauce, or barbeque sauce, 1/2 cup milk, and 1/4 cup bread crumbs. Personally I feel you could use up to a cup of bread crumbs or whatever works best for your taste. I also prefer my meatloaf topped with some barbeque sauce instead of ketchup and a little cheddar cheese. This variation is also written on the back of the package and was how I prepared ours. We loved it. Honestly one of the best meatloafs I have ever had. We have 4 children and a very busy schedule so I am always looking for meals that are quick and easy to prepare but still taste good and this meatloaf fit the bill. Just mix everything together, toss it in the oven for an hour and you have a great dinner. This meatloaf mix would make a great base for any type of meatloaf you want to make. You could always add a some extras like onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, or whatever you normally prefer in your meatloaf, but I wanted to make the recipe as directed the first time just to post an accurate review of it. I will definitley be buying this again and it will be in my regular rotation of dinners. Wonderful flavor, easy to make, and the whole family loved it.
I have had meatloaf only once in my life before tonight. I was 16 and had spent the night at a friend's house. It was a flavorless hunk of meat and I had no desire to try it again. With that being said when Walmart offered a free sample of the McCormick meatloaf seasoning mix I decided to make a meatloaf myself. Every food deserves a second chance. To use the seasoning mix you need 1pkg of McCormick meatloaf seasoning mix, 2 lbs of lean ground beef or turkey, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup of milk, 1/4 cup bread crumbs and 1/2 cup of ketchup, chili sauce, tomato sauce or barbecue sauce ( this is optional and completely your choice). You mix all the ingredients together except the ketchup (or whatever sauce you choose) and form the meat into a loaf. Rub the sauce of your choice over the top of the meatloaf. Bake at 375° for about an hour or until cooked through. I followed the instructions completely. I did not add any other seasonings to the meat which left me a little worried. I thought the meat would not have enough flavor. McCormick seasoning did not fail. I could taste the seasoning in every bite. My children and I enjoyed the meatloaf. I sliced the meatloaf and served it on top of a slice of whole wheat bread with a salad. My picky eaters ate it without complaining. McCormick meatloaf seasoning mix changed my mind about meatloaf. I would definitely use it again.
The McCormick Meat Loaf Seasoning Mix is a great item for you to use when you have to be conscience of how to season the food you prepare. Usually I just pull what every seasoning for the cabinet and just whip up the meat loaf, this time I tried this product and it gave my meat loaf a dazzling taste that the family really loved. Also it say, I tried it with ground turkey and ground beef and both meat loaves we great entrée's for dinner those nights. Even with the picky eater in the family I just add this into the ground meant and everyone enjoys it. This is something that will help you save time in the kitchen and I would recommend to everyone.
The McCormick Meat Loaf 1.5 oz Seasoning Mix is a great brand and seasoning. I normally use half the package when using it, and saving the other half for another meatloaf later. I have only used this for beef, but I would try it for turkey. The front of the package gives you nutritional information along with the picture of the product. The back of the package has recipes, ingredients, and nutritional facts. It is packed in the U.S.A. Also on the back is the companies website so you can use that if you want more recipes. There is also the date it is best by to.
I made meat loaf for dinner using the McCormick Meat Loaf Seasoning Mix. You simply mix the packet of seasoning mix with two lightly beaten eggs and one half cup of milk. Add one quarter cup dry bread crumbs and combine all the ingredients with two pounds of lean ground beef or turkey. Mix everything together and place in a baking pan. If you like, you can add a half cup of ketchup, chili sauce or tomato sauce to pour on top of the meat loaf before baking. I made my meat loaf following those instructions, but I added two pieces of bread to the bottom of the pan to soak up any grease from the meat loaf. The meat loaf came out perfectly made and was so good and tasty. This packet contains onion, paprika and garlic and gave this meatloaf such a wonderful taste. My family loved the meat loaf for dinner. Tastes like the meat loaf my mother used to make. Also, if you don't want to use bread crumbs you can use oats in place of bread crumbs or two slices of fresh bread cut into pieces. Now I have another healthy dinner option thanks to McCormick seasonings.
Though I have added egg and bread crumbs, my regular meatloaf lacks any distinct flavor making it no different from hamburger. The McCormick Meat Loaf Seasoning appeals to me in that it could make my dinner different and tasty. I mixed the recipe's milk, breadcrumbs, eggs, meat, and Meat Loaf Seasoning, then microwaved the meatloaf in a large glass bowl, covered, with several holes to let steam escape. During preparation, I tasted a small bit of the dry seasoning out of the package and the raw spices tasted very strong. I was extremely unsure it would make a good tasting meatloaf. This meatloaf was cooked on Auto as ground meat. The McCormick meatloaf turned out beautifully, smelling totally delicious. McCormick's package suggests coating the meatloaf with ketchup before cooking, which I did. The ketchup coating turned the loaf into looking ravishing, tasted like a superb tomato crust, and added flavorful appeal that blended perfectly with the delightful taste of the meat cooked with meatloaf seasoning mix. This seasoning packet makes the meatloaf taste like much more than hamburger and the spice blend turned my dish into a savory, professional-tasting dinner. This meal is now restaurant or good frozen food quality, making the Meat Loaf Seasoning with recipe well worth the cost. Enjoying an appetizing meatloaf at home is now something I can plan for dinners whenever I like, and I am very glad I tried this product.
MCormick is one of the most recognizable brands when it comes to spices so it's no surprise that their Meat Loaf Seasoning Mix has all the spices needed to make a good meat loaf. The reverse side of the packet provides a detailed list of what "you will need" as well step-by-step directions from mixing to baking. When I make meatloaf, I typically throw in some garlic salt, pepper, and other seasonings and do not use a seasoning mix. I changed it up by trying this mix. I detected some onion flavor and some paprika - in terms of spices, there is also salt, celery seed, and black pepper. For anyone with problems with soy, be aware that soy protein is one of the ingredients of this mix. Instead of using beef, I made the meatloaf with ground turkey. The Meat Loaf Seasoning Mix sets cooks up for a good tasting meatloaf - not excellent - but certainly good. An added pinch of salt, pepper, and some parsley may take it to another level.
I do like McCormick Seasonings. I am one that likes to go as natural as I can when it comes to food. I also like things to be fast and easy a lot of times as well. There is no MSG in this product which I like. It states No Artificial Flavors and Natural Spices. It does have onion, salt, paprika, celery seed, black pepper and natural flavorings. I don't like that it has Gluten, Hydrolyzed corn, and caramel color. Now I love a good meat loaf. I use this McCormick Meat Loaf Seasoning mix along with eggs, crumbled crackers, tomato sauce, and red, yellow and orange bell peppers into ground turkey meat then mix well. I then spray a large muffin pan with pam and then put meat mixture into muffin pan. Top with tomato sauce or ketchup. Cook 400* for one hour. Now you have individual mini muffin meat loaf and it cooks evenly. The package gives you a recipes as well and some variations for different options of meat loaf. Good tasting product!
This product was pretty good. It's hard not to be biased to my Mom being the Meatloaf Queen and all !! But this definitely did a good job on the meatloaf overall. I prefer a bit more spice, but i understand everyone doesn't. The taste was good, but as i said, i spiced it up just a little more than what the package contents did. It was very simple to use, directions were easy to follow. I would have no problem at all suggesting this product to family or friends. I'm anxious to see what my Mom will think about it !!
If you like onion flavor, this is for you. I make meatloaf a lot and I don't recommend using the directions on the back of the package. I followed their directions including 1/4 cup of bread crumbs and 1/2 cup of milk and the meatloaf mix was so wet I added another cup of bread crumbs. I made a second meatloaf using their seasoning, but my mothers directions (4 eggs instead of 2, 2 cups of bread crumbs instead of 1/4 cup, and enough ketchup to make a moist mixture instead of 1/2 cup of milk). The first meatloaf was greasy, had a small pink (uncooked) spot in it, and a 'real strong' onion flavor. The second meatloaf came out good. It had an onion flavor to it, but not strong. I rated it poor because after eating some of the first meatloaf, I burped for the next two hours and kept tasting onions. I tried making my usual sandwich with the second meatloaf (2 slices of buffalo style cheddar cheese on a slice of meatloaf). The cheese and the onion flavor in the meatloaf didn't do well together. Also gave me heartburn. I couldn't even give the meatloaf away.
