This is an adorable little work bench and was simple to assemble with clear instructions. Reviewers complaining about assembly must not know the rule to never fully tighten screws until you are all done. Yes, you may need to adjust the legs a bit when adding other supports, but that is normal and to be expected. It took me about 30 minutes to fully assemble (though I did use an impact driver instead of the tiny included allen wrenches). I highly recommend this toy, my son is going to love this when we give it to him on his birthday. Excellent quality, sturdy and will last a long time.
I've been looking for a workbench for my toddler for a while, so was very excited when I saw the Melissa & Doug Solid Wood Project Workbench Play Building Set. So far, everything I've ever received from Melissa and Doug was excellent and this is no exception. This is perfect for my 3 ½ year old who watches his daddy on his work bench. The set-up took a little bit of time to put it together, but my kiddo was hammering away in no time as soon as it was put together. I have no doubt he will be excited about this for a while! I received this product at a discounted price in return for my unbiased review.
Our grandson LOVES his work bench and all the things he can make. It's a great way to work on his fine motor skills.
Work bench is great. Just don't tighten the screws until the entire table is assembled. The only issue is the wooden nuts and bolts. Those pieces work better on some days and then other days they are too loose. Being they are wood they expand and contract with the weather and wooden threads break easily. Would buy again.
We are happy with this purchase. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that the wooden pieces are not symmetrical enough to give you a completely flat work surface. I don't mind that as it adds some character and isn't a safety issue for my 3 year old - but it may bother some people. But parents beware - if your child is like mine, you will spend hours of your day building all the different figures to no end...
This took a bit to assemble, but it's super sturdy. Perfect size for littles. 1.5-6 years. The nuts and bolts are good size for little hands, but I purchased jumbo nuts and bolts separately just to be safe with my littlest builder. Good value. It is sure to last.
The concept is good and my son has enjoyed it since receiving it from his grandparents on Christmas but one month later and a major piece is already broken. He built the cowboy and it fell off of the workbench cracking one of the two green legs... which means that he can't build anything else in the booklet. So, overall, I can't say that I would recommend this bench to others because my son didn't do anything too rough and yet it broke.
I thought this would be a solid toy set for my sons birthday, but unfortunately it hasn't held up well. The wooden screws and nuts strip easily and do not hold the plates tight enough. Therefore they are not used as often as I expected. The workbench is used more often and has held up well. So I would recommend getting other tools and parts to tinker with instead.
Brought this wooden project bench for my daughter birthday. You better be mechanical inclined to build this cause you will be taking apart pieces and trying to fix it in the right direction. Will not line up correctly. Some wooden pieces the hole is off. You will have to re drill new holes. Building the models the wooden parts will spin and not get tight. I will be a challenge if you are up for it. But other than those problems, the bench is very strong.
My son loved this toy when he first received it, and still does, but we've had to attempt to piece together the screws multiple times. The threading comes off the head of the screw really easily, and we've tried super glue and got glue to no avail. Only two are left :-/.
