When looking for an upgrade for our old black and white checkerboard pattern tile we were surprised to learn that WalMart had many options to choose from. The Melody “Hymn” Laminate Wood flooring we selected is a beautiful wide plank wood laminate with a modern farm house chic white washed oak appearance. This flooring is designed for use with or without or without an adhesive. It firmly snaps together and can “float” on top of existing hardwood or concrete. We are using a laminate wood flooring adhesive in this instance. While all boards are the same length it cuts very nicely with a power saw to create random length sections. The wide boards cut down on the number of cuts and the time required to lay down a whole room worth of floor. At about five-sixteenths of an inch thick the boards are light and easy to handle. And being real wood looks so much more realistic than its vinyl plank cousins. The manufacturer, Shaw, lists a number of transition pieces you will likely need for doorways and where the laminate meets carpet. I am still looking for a source for those so colors match. We are quite happy with this choice and are considering adding it to an adjoining room
I'm very happy with this well-made, beautiful flooring. The wood grain looks virtually identical to real wood, with realistic grain, along with a few knots left from old branches, too. The finish is matte, which is what I wanted and seems good to me for a white-washed wooden floor of this type. The coloring is perfect, neutral, and fits in with my home perfectly. There is a light texture, like from fine grain within the wood, which is more or less spread evenly across the planks. When I walk on it, it feels like real wood and helps the floor less slippery and, well, more like wood than polished stone or some sort of plastic tile. Yet, this is much easier to clean than real wood floors, and they don't seem to scratch or scuff much either. I found that they are very easy to install, and there are videos online which showed me how to click them together -- and I actually installed them on top of my old linoleum floor. My only advice is to plan out where you'll start and finish so the floor is basically seamless, with any trimming left for the end, and basically out of sight, if that makes sense.
Firstly, it shipped quickly and the packaging was very well done. There's a transparent opening so you can see the tile but it's in plastic and nothing gets scratched. These are bigger than I thought. They are definitely bigger than the standard laminate tiles at big box stores. This made installation much quicker and easier. They lock in so there was no issue with laying them out evenly (another plus). Cutting was very simple my husband used his work knife but I'm sure a strong hand with a box cutter could cut with a little effort. Don't be fooled though these aren't thin. They come with thick foam padding and I noticed a huge difference in the warmth of the floor (energy savings!). The color was very true to the online photos and it looks very vibrant in person. We used them in our kitchen and cleaning has been a breeze. Our toddler has spilled juice, icee, syrup and marinara sauce and all of it wiped off super easily. I clean it daily with a swifter and mop it twice a week and it holds up very well to the water. It does not absorb anything and does not scratch. I am not looking into a matching set for the laundry room and some for the bathroom. I would definitely recommend these for floors that get a lot of traffic, moisture, spills etc…
once it was installed it looks amazing. There was some chips on a few of them but they were still useable.
Although we bought our home new, the builder has already completed it, and made some unusual choices, including a small tiled front door entryway. I didn't have to be a pro-installer to install Melody. The planks easily click together for a DIY-friendly install over most existing hard surface floors. It is designed to conceal subfloor imperfections, and was simple to mark and cut to size. It provides the timeless beauty of natural hardwood and the durability of laminate flooring, which is especially necessary in our humid climate, in a highly used foot traffic area at the entrance to our home. I recommend this flooring for anyone seeking substantial richly colored planks that provide a unique and custom look in any space in their home.
This whitewashed wood flooring is a must in the modern home. The grain comes through to really give it that farmhouse feel. I really put this to the test as far as liquids and scratches. First thing I did was drop heavy tools on the floor to see if there would be any "holes" or "puncture" marks. There were none! Secondly, I literally "dug" into the plank with a tool. While this is something you would never do, I wanted to make sure it would hold up to shoes (sometimes you get a gravel in the sole), as well as dog-cat-pet nails scratching up the floor. I have shown the photo below of where I dug into the flooring. Lastly, the water test. I left a pool of standing water on the floor for 24 hours to see if it would damage the floor or leave a water ring. You can see it passed all of these tests with flying colors. Their website even shows you that you can use this flooring on walls to have a beautiful accent wall. The planks snap together and come apart with ease and is very easy to install.
This are packed securely and have protected from any damages while shipping. Very sturdy planks and have beautiful design patterns, the patterns are very even and does not look out of sync after installation. They are smooth but have some grip to hold and avoid slipping. After installing this flooring, it feels nice to walk there have been no popping sounds and did not have any air pockets. Was very easy to cut with a circular hand saw.
This is beautiful flooring. It's composition seems pretty sturdy and it's simple to assemble. My husband and I decided on a light color to give the appearance of an open area
The Melody laminate wood flooring was very simple to use, and transforms any room into a masterpiece. I love how easy and simple it is to lay this flooring down, the color is absolutely beautiful and really makes my bathroom stand out . It's easy to clean , and really makes the room look so much bigger. I'd definitely recommend anyone to try these, the most easiest flooring you'll ever have .
While the individual boxes had protection on all sides and extended beyond the end of the boxes on both ends you would think the flooring would be in pristine condition. But the opposite was true. 6 boxes had chips on every corner like someone handling the box was not careful and let it down on the corner. It was rare to find a single box without and damage to at least one corner of at least a few planks from every box. The flooring would install normally but leave chips at the end connecting groves that are visible and that will swell over time. I used all but the very worst ones and do not plan on washing for replacements to come since I am sure the same issues would exist. Somebody at the manufacturing facility handled the planks rough or prior to shipping is my opinion. My long turn fix for this issue is to buy and install a completely new floor on top of this one. Lesson learned never ever buy flooring in line to be delivered. The flooring cost around 900 dollars for the job so I wasn't expecting perfection in quality but I was also not expecting the damage by the handling complete disregard for the quality that someone was giving to a customer!
