What I like is that this unit is on wheels so it can be moved from the living room during the day to the bedroom at night. It lowers the room temperature by about six degrees. On top of that, it keeps the air moving. We hooked up a hose to it so we could leave it running all day. This unit meets all expectations.
I bought this to use out in the barn to cool the llamas/alpaca that we have. It works pretty good. Living in Texas, it can get very hot, and the llamas and Alpaca can get overheated very quickly. If the humidity is high, it won't work as well, but if it is low, then it works wonderful. I love the fact that you can hook a garden hose up to it so you don't have to keep refilling the water tank every day. Great if we need to go away for the afternoon. Also, my husband said it worked great in the garage when he was working on a tractor.
I ran into the same problems as other reviewers did, the motor brackets were bent along with the squirrel cage. It was not that difficult to dismantle and straiten, and the needed repairs were obviously caused during shipping. So no loss of stars for that. However they did lose a star for including a defective wheel bolt. My conclusion on this is that for its size, it's incredibly powerful! Cools down my cargo trailer in no time! But with that goes a warning, if you are not mechanically inclined, Do not buy it. The way these are packaged, the motor brackets and or squirrel cage will more than likely need attention.
Product claimed to cool 700 to 1000 feet. I doubt if it could cool 300 feet. Said it used 5 gallons of water every 24 hours. In reality, it was using 5 gallons every 2 hours. In my opinion, this thing was a piece of junk and I returned it within 3 days. You learn by trial and erroe. This was a HUGE error.
I bought this item thinking it was going to make my apartment cooler in the summer, little did I know that it was going to do the complete opposite. This product was a pain from the beginning, you have to assemble many pieces, and the instructions aren't good at all. When I finally got it to work, the thing started making weird noises because it was poorly manufactured. Then when it was finally installed and working in my room, the thing DOES NOT COOL!!! All this item did was leave my room damp and humid, and it wasn't any cooler. Do not buy this product for an apartment, or even a house, this is more of like an outdoor/garage/patio cooler.
Unboxed it to find it covered with grease splatter, inside and out. Took an hour to clean it up.
Cooler arrived damaged and fan assembly was hitting the frame poor quality control at factory or I got some else re return.
Recieved our MasterCool quickly thru Walmart.com site-to-store, happy with that. HOWEVER: This product is a piece of junk. Poorly assembled (fan made contact with housing, would not turn) Interior plumbing is brittle thin plastic and crumbles if handled. Has one plug in place to block water flow to an alternate route (probably used in larger versions of the model) that blew out on it's own, spraying water on the electrical portions of the unit. Reinserted plug...and the recepticle crumbled. I spent an afternoon completely removing the interior plumbing and replacing it with rubber hose and adjusting the fan to clear the housing and rotate. Thoroughly dissappointed with the product as shipped. Unit works well with my modifications, not worth half of the asking price though. Buyer beware.
