I bought these because I wanted to add a plant-based protein source to salads without too many extra calories. These chik'n strips have an impressive protein to calorie ratio! They are super easy to heat up in the microwave while I'm throwing together the rest of my salad, and taste great. I'm eager to try some other meal ideas with these, but they serve my main purpose perfectly!
I wish Walmart always would stock u on these, I love them, they taste good with rice, in salad, with pasta, they are high in protein and low on calories. But we always have to search for them, they are often out of them , and I personally prefer these to all the other readymade breaded versions, which have many more calories.
I enjoy these for adding to a Ceasar salad, or any salad really, a chick'n salad mix, Taco mix, and the list goes on. One question .... can they make it in a crock pot? The one cooking "thing" I miss about the meat-eating days, is the low effort to great tasting meal ratio when using a crock pot. We usually eat tofu done up in various ways and flavors, and that won't last. And most meat substitutes don't make it in a slow cooker. In a situation where I may be coming home from work and want dinner ready for my family, most suggestions say to put the substitute in for another hour - with homework and sports and other activities .... that defeats the purpose of a crock pot. Also, could we have this in a "shredded" style? That would work better for certain things. Also, is it possible to have a plain version? Sometimes I want to use it in a dish that requires a different flavor profile, even though the current one tastes great, it's not the only flavor possible.
We love these chickn strips. I hope they never stop making them. The other brands don't compare.
I have been a vegetarian since 2008, so I have tried just about every vegan and vegetarian meat substitute I have ever come across, and Morningstar Farms is the reigning champion for meatless chicken! The texture is enjoyable and the flavor is what is really amazing to me. Typically, I get their chicken poppers and chicken nuggets, but I tried these chicken strips for a recipe and found them to be even more delicious. I liked eating them just on their own. They were juicy and flavorful. They also work well in recipes that call for chicken. Keep in mind, though, that they are very small for chicken strips. I would almost call them chicken pieces or bits rather than strips.
I have been buying these for years and they were excellent. Ate them every single day for about three years. they were my absolute favorite. I bought four bags last week and now they are bland, different texture, and diff color. I thought it was just me but other recent reviews have noticed it too. I don't know why they changed the recipe but I hope they change it back; this is kinda the only vegan meat I eat so I'm trying to find new things now.
The nutritional value of these for the money is excellent. I just don't get any real chicken flavor from them, so it's kind of like tofu with a slightly chewier texture. It works best for me if I put them with something that has loads of flavor, so I don't mind so much my blah reaction to these strips.
I bought these to make fajitas thinking they were a blank slate; instead, they are pre-seasoned. A bit of garlic and/or onion powder would be fine, but these taste like Thanksgiving, and not in a good way.
I'm trying to integrate more into vegan foods and these scared me off a little bit. They are like heavily seasoned, which is fine and the initial bite is fine too. My issue with these is definitely the rubber texture. I put these in a regular mixed salad and in every bite, this was the last thing in my mouth. It was like chewing warm savory gum, I definitely would not buy again or recommend it to anyone beginning to incorporate plant-based alternatives.
Yuck, maybe?, poultry seasoning for flavor. Very disappointing
