I use these blades in the fall for mulching leaves and they work great although if they hit a tree root they will bend. In the summer I use a regular non mulching blade that will shave the tree roots with out bending.
These blades were hard to find as it seems MTD is no longer making them. To my surprise Wal-Mart had them and at a great price.
Put them on and tried them out. All works fine.
Blades are original equipment for my Troybilt mower.
Good item and fair price. Bought this item late in the season and ordered it thru Walmart.com since 2 local Walmarts were out of stock. Item was quickly shipped.
blades fit perfectly, fast delivery, got them in 3 days. very pleased.
Needed new blades for my lawn mower and checked out 2 big box stores, one wanted $32.49 and the other $24.86 for set of blades. So I went on line at WalMart, found same blades for $18.01 and free pick up at the store, so I ordered them. They came to the store on the delivery date stated and are the same quality as the blades in 2 big box stores. Bill
Fits perfect for mtd 38” cut. Year 2009 riding mower. 6 star pattern . THESE BLADES REALLY CUT GREAT !!! and they spin smoother than the planet Saturn and its rings ! Buy these blades ! They are awesome !
Over all I have no issues with the item. But I do have an issue with the way it was packaged. Someone need to improve this cause it got to be costing you money. Which means it costing me more money to have it shipped to me. My package came on time lucky with out and damage. Because the box they put it in was at least five times the size of the 18" blades there was no padding to secure the blades from bouncing around in the box. You could see where the blades were ripping the box from the inside. If they broke thru I would of got a empty box. Need to look into the shipping area to come up with a better way to ship the items.
After I received the blades, I removed the old ones only to find only one of new ones was slightly longer. (Approx. 1/8 of an inch) and had to grind it down as it would hit the mower deck. They were alittle difficult to seat on the "star" on the mower deck as it was worn some so I filed the star hole on the blade too and the worked ok. Perhaps that could be taken under consideration and the hole be just slighlty larger because as with an older mower, the "star" on the decks do wear and becomes silighlty distorted.
