As soon as I opened the package, the aroma of spices tickled my nose. This really is a great mix and should be on the shelf at Walmart. I added a can of GV chili tomatoes and Smithfield smoked turkey sausage, and it's like fireworks exploded in my mouth. The only bad thing is, the packaging. It's a HUGE bag, and the self-sealing is very fragile, and then you cannot close it. I ended up taping it to keep the rest fresh.
This is quick and easy to cook. It tastes great, but if you're looking for cajun, I think you may be disappointed. This is, literally red beans, rice, onion, garlic, black pepper. There's no cayenne pepper, although it could be added.
Great product. Great base to make a delicious meal. I just threw in some sausage and everyone loved it. Will be purchasing again.
LOW SODIUM- I love it!! It tastes great and the directions were easy to follow. If you're looking for a healthier boxed rice then this is it.
The Jollof rice was very spicy in a great way. Love it and will buy more again in York PA.
I added chopped sausage and it tasted like sausage fried rice. No saucy look, the finished product is just rice with brown spots. No spicy at all, look at the recipe, what's New Orleans about that? Costs twice what the box RB
It is seriously lacking in flavor. 2 out of 3 that shared the meal had to add extra seasonings just to finish their portion. NOT zesty at all. I'm giving it 2 stars only because it was filling but just about any rice dish would work as well.
The listing is for a case of 6, but in reality you are only buying 1 bag of the beans and rice. I tried customer service and they do not have the option to complete the shipment, just refunding the purchase price.
BLAND! Practically instant white rice and beans ONLY as far as flavor is concerned. "Zesty"?! Are you serious? I've had bread with more zest. Made 2 servings according to directions with olive oil. It's gonna need some help if you are unfortunate enough to already have this in your pantry. Good luck!
Did not come in a case of 6 - was one single package overpriced and not a good flavor - I grew up in Louisiana so I know red beans and rice and this just didn't make the cut- barely any beans it was mostly just a package of overpriced rice
