Just received this unit. Easy to use. Bought it because of the double seal. Bought some New York beef cuts yesterday as they were on sale. Bougt 10 of them. Came home ang vacuum packed them by 2's. Did the 5 packges in a jiffy. Unit did a fantastic job. Wife said "where has this been all our lives"? Love it.
works great, use it a lot. Have not sealed soupy ing., and will not. Sliced apples should be dapped a bit with dry towels as a lot of moisture sucks out into the tray if that hasn't been done.
Purchased this to replace the old foodsaver vacuum sealer so far very pleased with this one have sealed about a 100lbs of deer steaks roast and burger with zero problems
So far it's good... I have an old FS wide model thats still around 25 years later, the vacuum died so I'm trying a new Vacuum Sealer. The FS with same features is outta my price range, so rolling the dice on Nesco VS-12 All the features work as intended, it's quiet comparatively, roll cutter works, chamber door opens closes smooth, control panel is self explanatory. The double seal caught my eye.. I've always struggled to double seal bags, seal-once then once-again.. this VS-12 has a double seal selection, makes two side-by-side seals. My beefs. I found my brushed-chrome finish collects fingerprints easily and looks kinda nasty full of prints. Not a big deal, the 120v power cord is plastic feeling, stiff kinked and hard to work with.. yuk! Overall it's working great, sucks well, seals well. I wish it had a longer warranty period.. after 25 years using my FS.. the VS-12 1-year seems underwhelming.
I like that it's easy to use and Works really Nice
My old sealer lasted over 20 years. I'm hoping this one lasts a long time as well. It seems to get all of the air out and sealed well.
Through the years, this is my 3rd sealer,and it is the best, very easy to use. Loads of suction i love the double seal function also. The only complaint I have is the little tray that catches liquid and be taken out to clean. it makes it difficult to clean thats. That gave it a 4 star.
I've used my sealer on two different occasions. Once with leftover turkey and once with a spiral ham that came on sale. I read lots of reviews etc and the VS 12 came out on top for the lower price sealers. Mine was like $120 with two rolls of bag material. My sealer function just fine. The problem I have with it is getting a good seal after vacuum is applied. Why because most things have moisture in them. Why not reviews I read said anything is beyond me. My cooked turkey had moisture. The spiral ham had lots of moisture. I was getting mad because I couldn't get good seals. The other issue was the bag material itself. Some areas had creases in the new rolls that caused problems sealing because of the creases. Also the bag are a pain to keep open. I used a cleaned 2quart carton tu help keep the bag open and allow the food to be easily placed before sealing without contaminating the seal area. I also discovered partially freezing the item helped keep the moisture from being sucked into the seal area during sealing. I also wrapped a paper towel around the meat and put it in the bag with it during sealing process. Just a pain but it improved my success rate. Why nobody talks about this is beyond me. Guess they want to stay positive rather than telling the truth. For dry goods this isn't necessary but it's not necessary to vacuum dry goods unless you're planning for Armageddon. Not sure if i would buy this again. Not because it doesn't work but because it's a hassle and buying frequently is a better waste to go . I don't buy cows by the 1/4 or 1/2…
We have bought two. We thought the first one might be defective. The second one didn't work any better. Does not give a complete seal most of the time. Had to go through too many bags. Tried to different tupes of bags but that didn't help.
I just tried this vacuum sealer for the very first time and it doesn't work properly, right out of the box! I click on the buttons for vac %26 seal and double seal and neither works properly. The progress indicator starts counting down but suddenly stops at the number 6. And when I open the unit, there's only a partial, single seal, not the double seal I had previously set. This particular unit is an absolute joke and I'll be returning it, ASAP!
